“Beautiful Suite!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2011

My husband attended a conference in the Delta Grand and we were mistakenly booked into the Royal Private residences by his assistant. These suite are situated in a separate building from the hotel. Wow..thank god for little mistakes! We were in a 2 bed, 2 1/2 bath (with Jacuzzi in the master) with an office. There is also a laundry room. Since we were there during April there was no need for AC but the gas fireplace provided some cozy warmth. The suite had a large spacious lanai with comfotable seating and table. There is a beautiful Spa/workout center on the top floor of this building exclusive to the Royal private Residences. There are 2 indoor hottubs and one outdoor as well. The pool is only just over 3 feet deep and not quite big enough for laps but is very nice for a cool dip after the tubs. The spa is eqipped with showers and fresh towels if you are heading straight to a meeting.

I loved kelowna, great little town. Just notes on a few places....Kelly O'Bryan's Neighbourhood Restaurant, went for the Canuck playoffs. Full of drunk barely legals and so so bar food.Never again.
....Valoroso Foods, Fantastic Italian Deli, had their italian meat sub and cut it into 2. We barely got through it ,so big. Delish. We also tried their pizza, almost New York authentic.
....Illichmann's Deli, if you are hankering for german european deli, this is the place. Great take out.
.....Quails Gate Restaurant, was not impressed although the service was impeccable. They were serving a group of us, aprox 70, so that could be the reason. I so looked forward to going to this much touted eatery and was very dissappointed. Food was lack lustre and unimaginative. To their credit the wines that were served were very good.

Every one in the Hotel were extremely helpful and knowledgable.

This was our 2nd stay at the Royal Private Residences. Where you are located in the residences is very important to the quality of your stay. The side closest to the Delta Okanagan Grand is less pleasing because it can be too noisy to sit outside or leave the windows open due to a huge air vent from the roof of a restaurant at the hotel. Also, the view is more limited to the canals and the hotel. On the other hand, if you get a park and lake view, it is gorgeous. Our most recent stay was in a 2 BR plus den overlooking the lake. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and taking in the awesome scenery. The previous stay was on the noisy end of the building and we could not enjoy the great weather!

The units are comfortably furnished, but very dark. We found that we weren't always aware of how nice the weather was outdoors because the units are dark and gloomy. The gas fireplace was cozy while having coffee in the mornings. The kitchens are well equipped with dishes and utensils; but a little short on cupboard space. However, with a little ingenuity you can manage to store away your groceries for a week. Stainless steel appliances are high-end brand names. The cork floors are comfy and quiet. The beds are very comfortable and there are lots of extra pillows & blankets. When you book check to see what size bed - not all units have kings and queens. The bedrooms are very small and some rooms will only accommodate a double bed. The bathrooms had plenty of towels and were well stocked. Having in-room laundry is also wonderful. My husband really enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub. We also used the BBQ's on the deck with no problem.

We exchanged into this unit and felt it was a good value. Not sure what it would cost as a rental.

We have stayed at the Royal Private Residence a few times now, and this time our stay was delightful, as always. We love the luxurious suite, the comfy beds, the view, the pools, & all the amenities within walking distance! Our family always finds things to do in Kelowna, and when we tire of activity, it's great to spend some time in the infinity pool or the hot tubs, then relax in the suite. We recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to Kelowna!

We have just returned from a week at The Royal Private Residence Club in Kelowna, British Columbia. This was the first time we'd actually stayed in Kelowna, only ever passing through before. We had great weather (a real crap-shoot for the third week in September!) which made the week a pleasant experience - it would have been a different experience if the weather had been bad.
The RPRC is a relatively new building, attached to The Delta Grand Okanagan Hotel. As a guest, you are able to use all the facilities of The Grand, as well as those of the condo unit (pool, casino, restaurants etc). I didn't find anywhere unclean, as the previous reviewer suggested, quite the opposite in fact, and all BBQ's (3 of them!) were in full working order and there was never any need to wait to use them...I should imagine this is not the case in the height of the season though (June/July/August) Kelowna isn't the party-time, centre-of-the-universe type of place - 25% of the population is over 65, and the tourist attractions are limited, in the main, to the wine and fruit producing industries (with the exception of the lavender farm!) other than the beaches, when the weather is warm enough, or you enjoy making sandcastles!
I do agree that storage space in the kitchen was somewhat lacking, but I really enjoyed the full size gas range that was installed. The patio and pool area on the roof, was gorgeous for us as a couple wanting to relax and sit in the sun with a good book, but probably not so much fun for a family with young children. I think there are probably better choices for families in Kelowna, but for us it was lovely, and I cannot say that we were treated as second-class citizens either, even though we do not own at this resort specifically. So would I recommend going to the RPRC...? Yes, if you're a couple wanting peace and relaxation, good restaurants and a comfy bed, but no, if you're a young family wanting lots of activities and fun and games.

There is a reason that Kelowna the heart of the Okanagan. It offers something for every taste and every budget.

The Royal Private Residence could be so much, yet ends up being so little from check in to check out. For a new building it is already showing signs of wear and if you aren't an owner, you will be a second class citizen.

Using the barbeques (their are only 4 of them and two were broken) is hit or miss. And you either have to grab one early or wait until one becomes free.

The pool area is beautiful, but dingy.

The suite was beautiful but lacks cupboard space in the small kitchen area. All of your food will be on the counter or in the refrigerator.

Housekeeping was throough and the linens were changed regularly.

It is actually attached/part of the Grand Hotel and that is another gong show for check in or getting any kind of information. You cannot beat the location for virtually anything you want to do. Most things are within a pleasant walking distance (Tree Brewing, Wine Museum, Fruit Terminal, etc.)

You will overpay for what you get at the Royal which is sad because with a little effort it could be so much.
