A recent lunch in sprawling downtown Kamloops offers many culinary options. We chose Hello Toast, since it had a nice mom and pop feel, with an atmosphere and menu suggesting that careful attention was paid to ingredients and healthful options.
The food WAS tasty-- surprisingly, the Turkey-burger served with salad and sans bun-- ground turkey, well seasoned, and made more interesting than most by the addition of fresh spinach and chopped onions was savory yet a nice, light option, served alongside a salad studded with good, fresh vegetables, sunflower seeds, and a light balsamic dressing. Another healthful menu option we tried was a bowl with brown rice, vegetables, and chicken, in a fairly plain yet light sauce. It could have been seasoned more intensely, but still was satisfying and healthful, served with sundried tomato and asiago wraps.
We we looking forward to a nice pot of tea, and disappointed to receive a pedestrian tea bag with tepid water in each one.
The service was slow, the place was busy, and waitress brought one dish FAR SOONER than the other, making one of us nearly finished before the other dish arrived, also quite tepid in temperature.
