“Great room, high bed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2007

This hotel must be the best deal in Kamloops! The room was very attractive and everything looked new. The bedside lamps were modern and the whole room was aesthetically pleasing with very fresh looking linens and light furniture.

We were on the 4th floor which afforded a good view of the comings and goings of the Rocky Mountaineer buses to the various hotels around. The Travelodge next door has a very dated exterior look, ditto the Best Western opposite, in comparison to the Hampton Inn.

The hotel's indoor pool and hot tub were great and the pool a nice temperature. It is positioned just off the lobby and we had it to ourselves despite the hotel's appearing to be busy. There is also a slide which we did not use.

Breakfast was from 6 am here, which suited us, and was the earliest offered at any hotel on this trip. It was the usual buffet stuff plus sausage patties, English muffins, French toast slices and fresh fruit salad. What we had was good.

I saw the Rocky Mountaineer tour buses arrive at 6.20 am and depart at 6.30 am, causing one couple to miss it by arriving in the lobby at 6.35 am. The desk clerk told them "when they say 6.30, they mean it!"

We stayed at this hotel both on our way to and our way home from the Canadian Rockies. The room we reserved was very good -- double Jacuzzi and a king-sized bed -- but we only got to stay in it once, despite confirming our reservation twice. When we returned, the hotel lamely explained that they had "double booked" it and gave it away to someone else. We ended up soaking our cares away in the communal hot tub, which just ain't the same thing. There is no restaurant in this hotel but the grill in the nearby Sheraton is very good.

Our room was very clean, comfortable and equipped with wireless internet access. The complimentary breakfast was composed of eggs, sausages, bagels, english muffins, toast, hot & cold cereals, fruit bowls, yogurt, pastries, juices and coffee. We found the staff to be pleasant. We would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Clean, well maintained, friendly staff. Large rooms. Great mattresses. Clean. Clean. Clean. Only downside is there is no inhotel restaurant but the area around hotel is teeming with places to eat. Good room rates. Would recommend to anyone.

  • Liked — the cleanliness of the Hotel and the room.
  • Disliked — No restaurant on site.

Together with my family (total of four, including two teenage children) we stayed a night in the Hampton Inn, travelling from Vancouver to Jasper in the Rocky Mountains.

The hotel is the perfect place to stay on your way to and returning from the Rocky Mountains!!

Great Deal!

The room was very large, absolutely clean, and the furniture seemed brand new.

Very pleasant reception.

The only (minor) drawback is the breakfast which is served in a very noisy room (given that it was was overcrowded when we showed up.).

Still an excellent deal, given the price of only 130 Canadian dollars, including breakfast for four.

We striongly recommend this hotel!

The Hampton Inn in Kamloops is a great choice instead of the ultra-expensive Four Seasons or lower-end Best Western or Comfort Inn, the new facilities and ultra comfortable rooms make it absolutely a pleasure to stay at!

Beginning your check-in, it is a very warm and inviting lobby in the cold and somewhat miserable weather Kamloops. The staff are friendly and want to get you processed and into your room as quick as possible which is much better for travellers!

After taking the elevator to the appropriate floor you are treated with very nice hallways and the once again warm enviornment. Once you open the room, it is a good atmosphere again but with your domain for the night! Throwing your bags down and collapsing into the ultra-comfortable bed is what it's all about! Getting out the computer and using the TV-Tray to compute is always a treat on relaxing after that long car ride or 2x connecting flight to Kamloops Airport.

The best thing is still to come, the ultra amazing continental breakfast. With everything so darn fresh you are worried it'll ooze right out of your hand, to that cool glass of Pink Grapefruit juice, this breakfast has it all!

Overall, great hotel and worth staying at if you are in Kamloops!

I got my husband to book this stay for me by phone (usually do it via internet but I was already travelling).
I requested two INTER-LEADING ROOMS!!!!!! because i was travelling with a 12 year old and an 11 year old girl. I like to be rested and relaxed when I have to drive the hellish road between Revelstoke and Calgary and I wanted the girls to have their own space to watch movies and have a bit of fun while I slept in a seperate room with EASY access.
Didn't quiet happen that way due to my upgrade.

When I arrived at the HI at 6pm - I was told the person who made the booking had made an error and unfortunately there were no interleading rooms available - I could have an upgrade!! a bigger queen room and and adjacent king room. I am a pretty laid back parent but leaving two young girls alone in a room which I cannot get into was not something I was totally comfortable with. Still I didn't really have a lot of choice as I had promised the kids swimming and the sleepover-fun night! So we took it.
I slept really badly worrying about the kids and really might as well just have driven on to Calgary.

Such a pity because I really, really love Hampton hotels - they are very clean and comfortable and I have always found the staff to be great. I will probably stay with them again - but confirm my booking on a daily basis if it is specific and important.
