“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2011

Called into the Visitors Centre at Kamloops and this was one of the Hotels available.

It was easy to find with free parking under the hotel. The Reception Staff were very profession and quickly sorted my check in/out. The place had been recently refurbished which was apparent. The air con was very welcome and certainly makes a difference.

The bedroom was spacious and clean as was the bathroom. Spent a very quiet peaceful night here and it transpired to be a good choice. I would be mindful of checkout time and deconflict where possible from those on the Rocky Mountaineer Train trip checking out en masse!

The attached bars are really good with good choices of food and beers. Would go back to this place if I was in the area again.

We stayed overnight as part of our trip from Banff to Vancouver on the Rocky Mountaineer. We noticed there has been criticism of the hotel but we were pleasantly surprised.
It is well run, the staff are polite and engaging and the facilities of a high standard. The food was also hearty. A nice hotel in a nice town.

We Stayed here with my sons hockey team at the end of feb. This hotel was great for hosting teams. There were 3 teams staying there whern we were there. They have a movie room games room and an area for parents to sit and socalize without having to worry about time. If you get a chance stay here with your team or as a family. It was great

Great little hotel right downtown. Safe location - not sure what the other reviewers were talking about - maybe a homeless person or two hanging out downtown, but that's to be expected for a city of 100,000. Hotel was quiet, clean, with good amenities. Breakfast was nothing special. Nice pool, ample parking. Would stay again.

I stayed at the Thompson for a little under two weeks. The location is great, about a block away from a long row of downtown restaurants. The rooms are large, clean, and the staff are very helpful. Breakfast is at the restaurant next door and is pretty good for a continental. It consisted of toast, muffins, 3 cereal choices, pancakes, fruit, juice, and a sweat often cookies or cinnamon buns. My only breakfast complaint is that the cookies and cinnamon buns made daily re-appearances until they were beyond stale. Other issues with the hotel are that the Internet gets slow when the property is full, the exercise room is very small (1 treadmill, bike, 5-in-1 weight machine, and a elliptical that doesn't work well.) The hotel is also close to train tracks. You can occasionally feel the building shake when they are attaching train cars.

Overall, the Thompson is a nice property with great staff. I would definitely stay there again.

The Thompson is located in a good spot in Kamloops - downtown and within walking distance to restaurants etc, but still surprisingly very quiet.

The rooms are nicely furnished with a small fridge. The staff are nice and helpful, parking is covered, and there's a 24 hour games room if you have active kids/teenagers with you. You may not be"knocked-out" by the Thompson, but you probably won't regret your stay either.

a wonderful, helpful, accomodating staff was great the entire weekend. The hotel offers many services and extras. The theatre room, conference room, pool and activity gathering room were great. Great for kids and adults. Convenient location. You could do far worse and have stayed at far worse for similar prices. The rooms were also clean and comfortable
