“ultimate fraser river fishing experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

We will return to the mighty fraser time & time again but there is only one guiding company to use to get the most out your stay - Blue Water Rockies Guiding are the only firm that offer a complete service for the sturgeon, salmon or steelhead angler on the fraser & it's tributaries. This was our second trip to the fraser for 2 of the group but the other 2 had no idea of the battles that lay ahead & wih Chris, Sacha & James guiding us there was never any doubt that big sturgeon would be landed. The largest fish of the week at 7ft 7" was landed by the rookie in the group & the enthusiasm & skills of the guide have reignited the flame in his own ability to catch. It was fantastic to share our experiences with the guides- they are proper fisherman & share both the highs & occasional lows of landing these magnificent fish.

From a technical perspective all boats operated by this company have the gear on board to land the fish of your dreams and combined with their lifetimes knowledge of the river and their undoubted watercraft their is only 1 company you need to book up with. For the record all four of us finished up with sturgeon to 7ft+ and lots of fish between 4-6ft & we fished between hope & langley on the fraser to catch those fish. Chilliwack has many guiding companies & the water can be pressured particularly on weekends so it really pays to book up with BWRG as they have an extensive knowledge of the whole fraser system & will put you onto fish in areas that most other companies have no experience of.

We will be back again soon & will only be booking with 1 company for our trip - thanks to Chris & the boys for making our stay truly amazing.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for all the kind words and taking the time to write a review of your fishing holiday with us this year. I'm happy to hear that you and and the group had a great time, and that everyone was able to get a fish over 7ft. As you know, fishing can be tough at time and not always do you get to land big fish. Hopefully we can get you guys out here again next year and try to get the big one!

All the best,

Chris C.

“First-class fishing adventure on the Fraser River.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

I have been using Bluewater Rockies Sportfish Guiding Company for corporate and personal fishing trips every year since 2009. Over the past several years, we have booked over 50 trips with Chris and every one has been a positive experience. With Chris, I have caught white sturgeon and all five species of Pacific salmon (sockeye, pink, chinook, coho, chum) each with its own unique experience. Some of my clients have enjoyed the experience so much that they book their own personal trips at Bluewater Rockies afterwards. I also book an annual father-son trip every year on my birthday in October. Chris' crew always makes sure we get the best chances for hooking and landing fish. Bluewater Rockies knows their stuff and you can't go wrong with these guys.

“Best guided trip I have ever done.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

There were four in our group and we are all experienced with sturgeon fishing (two own their own boats). This was the most enjoyable guided trip I have done and that includes others in the south pacific and both coasts of Mexico. Chris was not only very professional and very knowledgeable, but runs a very effective boat with top end gear.
Chris is laid back and makes everyone relax so we can enjoy our day, as it was obvious from the start that he really knew his trade and that gives everyone a high level of confidence. He was very accommodating to our needs and always asked what we would like to do. He made suggestions and allowed us to make choices. Beautiful scenery and impressive fishing made this day one I will not forget. Chris also volunteers with the sturgeon tagging program and asked if we would like to participate and we happily agreed. Every sturgeon except one had been previously tagged and we tagged that one and recorded all the scan details and measurements. Our largest three fish were 6’1”, 6’8” and a beast at 8’2”. Topping of the day with some salmon action was just the icing on the cake.
I will absolutely book with Chris again, as we know folks fly halfway around the world to experience this exceptional fishery and we have it in our backyards…

Hey Kim,

Thanks for taking the time to post up a review about your fishing trip with us in the Fraser Canyon. I'm glad that you and the other guys had a good time, the Fraser Canyon is a great place to fish for sturgeon. Not only are there lots of big fish up there, but the scenery is breath-taking. Hopefully we can get you out on the water again soon, the 8'2" was nice but we should try and crack the 9ft mark next time.

Hope to hear back from you soon.

“Amazing guiding, stunning scenery and great company. Massive fish, experience of a lifetime!! :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013 via mobile

Second time out with Chis Chiesla and his team and it never fails to impress.
We are serious anglers in search of huge Sturgeon who also like a good laugh.
BRGS certainly tick all the boxes, we had nearly 40 fish in a week with 5 over 7ft in length!
Can't wait to do it again in a year or two!!!
Incredible experience.

“Another notch off of our bucket list.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

We 4 had the pleasure of fishing the Fraser canyon with Chris Ciesla.
Our group was made up of 4 experienced fishermen that have never fished the Fraser canyon for sturgeon. We knew that area is specialized water with powerful changing currents and many variations of depths.
We only would do this trip with an experienced guide. I had never met Chris but did get some feedback on him and his company from many people I know in the industry. Chris and his staff have a excellent reputation.
Our group knew we would get fish and looked at catching as a bonus. To have the opportunity to travel the Fraser River canyon safely and take in the sights was going to be one of the highlights of our trip.
We did catch quite a few Sturgeon with the 3 largest being 6'1", 6'8" and a very fat 8'2" which pulled like a freight train.
This large fish got wrapped around the anchor line 2 times. Chris calmly with a little teamwork from us unwrapped the line and to our surprise the fish was still on and finally landed. What a thrill for our group.
Bluewater Rockies Sportfish are voluntarily involved in the Sturgeon scanning and tagging program. It was a great experience for our group to see and participate in this very important process.
Once we took pictures with the largest Sturgeon we though our day was over. As we cruised back to the boat luanch Chris suggested that we fish for Pink Salmon for awhile to end the day. No arguments from us. We caught many Pinks and then headed back to the launch as it was getting dark.
This was a unforgetable day for us. Even as experienced anglers we learned so much by going out with Chris.
I would recommend this company to anybody that want to expeience this incredible fishery.

Dennis
