It might look run down from the outside but once you get into the room you'll find that its of similar quality to much more expensive hotels. Sure there's no shampoo, conditioner, etc but there's soap and you can find travel size hair stuff at wall mart five minutes away so totally worth it. Out smells clean, the beds are clean and comfortable, lots of towels and the a/c works very very well. We oin one of the upper rooms and we found there were a lot of people hanging out on the balcony/ area that we had to navigate around, but they were just normal folks outside for a a smoke and chatting their fellow smokers.
My only complaint: there was a dark haired cleaner in the morning cleaning rooms as we were up and getting ready to check out. She was cleaning with the suite doors open and was gagging and heaving and throwing up as she was working and was doing this amazingly loud. Louder than a motorbike or car stereo. Not really the owners fault. But gross.

Room Tip: Pick non smoking. They smell better and its not that hard to stick your head outside for a smoke.

After seeing not one poor or terrible review I had great hopes for this motel, especially since we've had some wonderful luck with Mom & Pop motels while on our current 25 day motorcycle trip.

Price point is excellent without question, and service was friendly and helpful but once we got to the room things started to go south. The carpet was pretty much filthy, and there was clearly some sort of snack food remnants between the night stand and the bed that has been hiding from the vacuum for some time. We opted not to touch the floor without shoes or sandals on during our stay.

The bathroom sink faucet had so many layers of scum and dirt on it a team of scientists might have been able to use the layers to determine the last time it was thoroughly cleaned. I ended up using one of our towels to wipe a few layers off the taps so we could at least feel somewhat comfortable touching them. Went to use the coffee maker in the morning but after seeing the top of the pot decided it had likely been awhile since it had been cleaned as well.

Like many travelers, especially those on motorcycles I have a fair amount of electronics to plug in and charge each night, the only two available plugs in the entire room were the two GFI plugs in the bathroom. Found out in the morning when none of my stuff was charged that those GFI plugs go off with the bathroom light.

If you look at my review history you'll see I'm not a fussy traveler and usually quite comfortable at 1 and 2 star places but I can't in good conscience give this place a decent review despite how nice the people were due to how unclean we found the room.

This is an inexpensive, no-frills motel. Check-in was efficiently handled by a pleasant young lady. The room was neat and clean although the carpet could use a steam cleaning. The room included free wi-fi access as well as an older style TV, a coffee maker, a microwave and a fridge. The wi-fi is security enabled and when I had some difficulty logging-in the knowledgeable young lady from the desk scurried up to my room to ensure everything was fine. The bathroom was clean and had a good supply of towels and soap. However, there was no shampoo, conditioner, facial tissues or shower cap. The motel does not have a restaurant, pool or hot tub. However, there are several decent restaurants within easy walking distance. The room air conditioner worked well.

Room Tip: The rooms away from the street are quieter.

Stayed here en route to the Stampede. I booked online through Priceline for around $50.

Good - check-in, customer service, sleep quality, black out curtains, location, price, clean, fridge, microwave

Things that didn't bother me but may bother you- size of room (mine had a double bed and we fit a sleeping bag on the floor but it was tight)

A special thank-you to the manager, Jason, and the maid. We lost a credit card and had to return to look for it. It ended up being across the street at a&w, but the staff here were very helpful! Cheers!

Would stay here again!

I've stayed at this hotel twice now (Sept 2011, Dec 2011) when I've been passing thru Medicine Hat from BC to SK. Yes, it's a motel, yes it's cheap....but it's clean, and has everything you need! Parking, great price especially when you're just passing through and need a place to sleep. They accept pets ($5-10 fee), bonus! The rooms are basic, but they are clean! Bed, TV, closet area, table with 2 chairs, small fridge (larger than a mini bar), microwave, coffee pot, and full bathroom. It may not be the newest decor, but it works. I first thought it may be a party motel, but it's been great both times I've stayed there. And there's always a nearly full - full parking lot. The motel is located just off the main road through Medicine Hat, and there is a few fast food restaurants in the area ( A & W, McD's). Because it's just off the main road, it can be a little nosiy. Ear plugs if you're a lil sleeper. I'll be staying there again if I need to when travelling. I've stayed there with my partner, and solo (with my puppy).

The entrance of this motel is a little hard to find (though you will see the motel as soon as you enter Medicin Hat from the right side). Still it's just a 5 minute drive downtown and even if you use this place as a stop on your way East or West, Medicin Hat is worthwhile for a short visit, as it's surprisingly charming.

Though the outside of this motel looks a bit old and worn, the rooms are perfectly fine and clean, and the Korean management is very friendly and helpful. Actually this was the best price-quality experience we had during our coast-to-coast-trip through Canada!
