“great lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

We had lunch on the terrace with a great view of the lake. They had no umbrella table free and it was very hot so got a little uncomfortable. The hamburger I ordered was excellent but cost about $24. My husband had the Rueben which he said was very good. The view and the food are wonderful so if you are willing to spend a little extra for lunch it was well worth it.

“Extremely poor service, bad food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

This is a review of the Emerald Lounge. We went there for dinner and ordered two items - a salmon dish and a Korean style ribs dish. Both dishes were subpar, especially the Korean style ribs dish. Although it was a large portion, the beef itself was ver tough and not well seasoned.

Another thing that bothered us greatly were the tables. We had originally sat in the lounge area with sofas. A couple of people decided to barge into our area without asking us if they could sit in our area, so we then decided to eat in the table area. We were shocked at the lack of cleanliness in this area - there were food scraps over the floor.

Finally, the worst part of the meal was the service. The waiter we had was absolutely horrible. I'm not sure if he was having a bad day, but he was extremely surly from the get go. We waited quite a while before we could even submit our order. Moreover, it took an hour before we received the food on our table! And it took the waiter nearly thirty minutes to inform us that it would take quite a while before we received our food.

It was clearly not worth the amount of money we spent on the dinner. Obviously, the hotel grounds are simply spectacular, but the Emerald Lounge restaurant is a place to avoid. We had much better luck in the Sawridge Hotel Walter's dining room...

“Breakfast buffet was creative and varied”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

Not your run-of-the-mill breakfast buffet. It was a bit more expensive than we usually pay, but very delicious and satisfying....like freshly-squeezed blueberry-orange juice which was served to us by waiters circulating around the tables. They leave the coffee urn on your table and refill it as often as you like. Service is amazing - they can't do enough for you. Food was appealing - hot was served hot and cold was cold - no lukewarm offerings. Even if you only do it once it is worth it for the view of Lac Beauvert through the ceiling-to-floor picture windows.

“Looking for a relaxed meal in the lounge; were dissapointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

After a nice day of sightseeing in Jasper we decided to stop in the lodge's lounge area and have some dinner. Hubby ordered the beef burger with fries and I had a rueben sandwich with fries, after sharing a caesar salad.

The salad was quite tasty, if slightly over dressed ,but we liked it. However, our main dishes were quite disappointing. Hubby said his burger was seriously over sauced, which drowned the whole thing. It was splattering and dripping sauce, and he was not thrilled. My Reuben had wet sauerkraut which soaked my grilled rye bread, and made the sandwich wet. I ended up eating the centre meat, cheese and sauerkraut with a fork and leaving the bread on the plate. In both our cases, the fries were over salted and we both left more than 50% on our plates.

Disappointed, absolutely - and at the price - outraged! Comment card came with our bill, and we let them know it was not worth the price we paid!
