“Not really a 'walks and talks', also tricked us even though we have already agreed several things via email”
I contacted Paula via email a week before we arrived Jasper. We agreed on the following: 1) instead of the $70 per person, she is giving us a $5 discount per person, so that would be $65 per person. 2) the credit card I gave her will be swiped AFTER our 3hr trip to the Maligne Canyon, Medicine Lake and Maligne Lake at 1pm.
The day of our trip with Paula, one of my family members couldn't make it with us because of her flu (stomach ache and vomit) the night before. So instead of 5 of us, only 4 went to the trip.
The trip started fine, Paula went through the safety procedures around the national park, how she ended up as an interpretive guide at Jasper National Park, etc. Once we arrived at Maligne Canyon (1st stop), we hiked for 45mins, she talked abt the berries, trees, squirrels, bear marks, limestones, karsts, etc. It wasn't much talk as we've expected.
After the hike, we drove to Medicine Lake and she was quiet. She mentioned about it being the 'world's largest bathtub' but from there upto Maligne Lake and our drive back to our cabins, we didnt get much information from her.
When she dropped us off our cabin's lobby, she told me that she is charging $70 per person instead of the $65 because theres just 4 of us instead of the agreed 5. Nonetheless, she could've told us about that sooner before we left for our trip even as an FYI. Instead of jumping it on us that she simply decided to not follow what we have agreed on.
A couple of days after, she dropped the receipt off our cabin lobby and upon checking, she has already charged my credit card BEFORE our trip. She charged 5 persons at $65 each. And attached is the reversal of the balance after charging me with 4 persons at $70 each.
To me it is not about the $5 difference, but her lack of business ethics or simply common courtesy. We have agreed on a certain price and have agreed that my credit card will e charged AFTER the trip. Both she didn't adhere to. This says a lot of her personality. She didnt even apologize for these.
I also wouldn't agree that 'Walks and Talks' is an appropriate name for the tour. If you can just print out some trivial information from the Internet before going to the places you want to see, just do it and not hire anyone who would just take you out on a walk and tell you things that you can find on Google.

This client was very demanding and manipulative in her emails wanting a discount on her private outing with just her family. I was uncomfortable from the very start especially when the hotel had experienced problems with them( they shared with me) when I arrived early as demanded to pick them up.I waited 20 minutes and I had to have them change their footwear it was not proper to do the walk I had planned.

I had not agreed that they pay after the tour as it is not the way we do are transactions. Do you pay for a flight on an airline after?
They did receive a refund from me because her mother was ill so it was less expensive than what I initially agreed upon.
