Let me go systematically

+ Location: Jasper is a pretty little town and the hotel is nicely located close enough to the city center
+ Very nice indoor pool

Having said that, most of the other things are strictly downhill

- Cost: Ripoff - I don't mind a high tab if the place deserves it, but here it was mostly the cost
- Check in: small + unfriendly.staff. They nicely charged my card twice and then shrugged off as if its my job to catch them. Ugh
- Rooms: I don't think I have stayed in a worse rooms. Tiny room, tiny sink, tiny bathroom AND there is a humungous and noisy standing a/c unit at the entrance. Not only it kills the whatever little remaining space in the room, it is useless. It was a hot July period when we stayed there - we decided to suffer the heat with the windows open than having this silly device running. We had friends also traveling with us, their experience matched ours.

A good place to avoid.

Room Tip: Just avoid

Thank you for posting your comments on Trip Advisor. Overall room rates for Jasper are consistently checked to ensure that our rates always remain competitive. Upon checking in, a pre-authorization is processed on the guest credit card - not charged - but held until checking out and then charged which is normal practice for all hotels. I apologize that we did not meet your expectations. It is with valuable feedback such as yours that we are able to address concerns of our guests to ensure that we meet and exceed their expectations.

The Tonquin Inn seemed a little run-down to me, rooms were ok, external hallways and stairs dirty, hotel Staff nice and accommodating. Some weird looking characters were frequently sitting outside their rooms smoking. The 10-15 minute walk to town is no problem for a person able to walk a little distance.

Nick, the Manager of the restaurant on the premises was not a very nice fellow. I heard him speak very disrespectfully, in a loud manner, with our trip leader and afterwards his facial expression seemed hostile. The next morning we enjoyed a better breakfast at a different restaurant nearby, instead of at the previously planned Tonquin Inn restaurant.

It was the only hotel on our 13 day trip through the Canadian Rockies I didn’t feel safe to leave my suitcase outside the room, for pick-up by our driver. I would rate the Hotel "poor to average", the restaurant "poor". I would NOT go back.

We stayed for two nights and had our two dogs with us. We were pleasantly surprised to see a dog bed and dog bowls with dog treats waiting for them. Our bed was comfortable, the mini fridge was also great to store our hiking lunches. We would definitely stay here again as the staff was very friendly. Thx for the great stay!

Basic and comfortable.... Very nice staff and clean.

This place is just OK... It has a restaurant attached which is quite good with a discount for breakfast if you stay at the hotel.

On the edge of town... a 10 minute walk into downtown.

Once you get past the fact that everything is over-priced in Jasper, this place is actually not bad at all. Comfortable bed, reasonable sized room, everything you need. We were also very pleasantly surprised with the restaurant. We are not prime rib eaters so even though we were in the Prime Rib Village we ate nothing but fish and seafood and it was all excellent. Friendly and helpful staff in both the hotel and the restaurant. Breakfast buffet was a once only deal though - we ate somewhere else the second day we were there. As a previous reviewer has already said recently, it's over priced and at best luke warm. Not good. Shame though, as the meal the previous evening was extremely enjoyable. We also found it very easy walking distance to town, and nice and quiet away from the road.

The hotel is nice if you dont mind the cramped rooms and tight parking arrangement. It is in a quiet end of Jasper but one can hear bus warning beeps oftentimes when they reverse out of the nearby hotel in rear. WIFI is excellent. I would not stay here again.

We recently stayed at this hotel and was very impressed with the service of the front desk. Our room was not ready when we arrived so they stored all of our luggage so we could go exploring.
I originally booked a room with 2 beds for 2 Adults & 2 Children with a small kitchenette. To my surprise, when we checked in, we had a room with a separate bedroom and 2 twin beds in the living room with a full kitchen. Nice upgrade :) They also delivered all of our stored luggage to the room for us. The hotel is located at the end of Jasper Ave and is quiet and only a 10 minute walk to the downtown area. We would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying here again when we visit Jasper.

Room Tip: Book early so you get a great rate like we did ( at least 2 months out if you are travelling in peak...
