“Not worth what you pay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

This is a very beautiful place on the outside, but the rooms are just a standard hotel room. Well actually have had better rooms in Jasper at the Sawridge. The beds here are doubles and not the most comfortable, no air condition which it was hot as heck in the rooms, and not sound proof we were one the bottom floor and could hear the people upstairs everytime they walked to when they flushed the toliet. Was also told that we needed to make a reservation for supper, but chose not to eat there anyways cause the menu was not kid friendly.

It was difficult to find a vacant room in Jasper (August). The hotel was much more than what we expected. Spacious an quiet room, clean, veranda, wonderful view on the Pyramid Lake, good service at reception. Cozy restaurant. The hotel is about 6 km from downtown, on the lake. Wildlife around the house (several caribou).

Room Tip: the rooms up hill have a nice view

The hotel is under new management and I did not have any of the problems mentioned in earlier reviews. We had a king room with fireplace and balcony. There were tall pines that partially blocked the view of the lake, but the room was very clean and comfortable. The screens were all intact and the air conditioning worked well. The room had a big screen TV, gas fireplace, refrigerator and a bathroom with ample space and good shower. We would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper level of the chalet style units for the best views and better natural li...

Beautifully situated, staff very helpful and courteous. Stayed in a Whistler room ( no 50) with kitchenette and lounge area. No air conditioning but ceiling fan in lounge area and fan supplied for the bedroom which were sufficient even in the hot weather we had for 3 days. Towels and toiletries of good quality but the sofa bed in the lounge not good for sitting on for too long.decor a bit dated .The only drawback was that we were one end room of a block of 8 and other guests had to go in front of our window to access their rooms.
Canoeing and boating on the lake were good value. Dinner in the restaurant was surprisingly good with a varied and interesting choice, and well served. Parking outside the accommodation plentiful even though the resort was full.

The hotel is very good, the countryside atmosphere, the nature around the hotel and the lake right in the front are some of the very positive points. The room is bigger than we thought, clean and tidy. The room had a fireplace, but no air conditioning, once you turn on the fireplace, it's not possible to cool it down, oh there's one possibility, open the door, but then there they come: the mosquitos. The parking lot right in the front. There are three problems: (1) as the appartments are outside the main, the door opens directly to the forest, and all kind of mosquitos can entry the room, (2) the room was with lack of lightning and (3) 10km from downtown, it seems more then that. Next time I would prefer to stay downtown, where the Deers and Elks are all over the place.

We stayed here for two nights on our touring trip of one month to U.S and Canada. Under new local management and keen to please. Also stayed in founders cabin as other reviewer "prairie folk" but had no problems with luggage as golf buggy used to take luggage from car to door. Horse riding available a couple of miles down the road and the escorted 1 hr ride to "the ridge" afforded excellent views to our beginner party You truly felt like a pioneer for a few minutes. Hired Kayaks from the hotel for a potter on the lakes , far more stable than the traditional canadian canoes. Get up early before lake waters are disturbed to take fantastic "mirrored" pictures of the surrounding mountains.

Too far to walk downtown, there is no air conditioning. To walk from the buildings to the office or the lake is a real uphill climb. They provided us with 2 fans but due to the window screens being bent and off the frames we could not keep the windows open because of all of the mosquitos. The bed was comfortable and the rooms were clean but the sleeper sofa was very uncomfortable for sleeping. This place was very overpriced for what they provide.
