“Beautiful course albeit pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2011

We golfed this course on a Thursday at 12:10. The staff inside the Pro Shop were extremely helpful and friendly. The starter was equally as inviting and we teed off right on time. We played our round within 4 1/2hrs. The course was beautiful and in great shape with amazing mountain views. We saw plenty of elk as well as a doe and her fawn. We paid $185 per person which included the power cart and use of the range. Yes, it's pricey but beautiful. I would recommend you golf this course even if just once.

“Once a year play”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2010

The course is expensive but I'd play it once a year for the views. Played on June 11, fantastic weather! The round was slow until hole 11 when we finally got past the slow group, was wide open after that. Pro shop said there were 2 marshals on the course but we never saw either. Greens were not very good, 2 were re sodded and very slow, about 9 of the others were spotty & dead. Played the twilight rate and still find it too expensive!

“Average course, extremely overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2010

We drove up to Jasper from the Banff area on our summer golf vacation and had just played its sister course, Banff Springs, earlier in the trip. Since we played Banff earlier, and the courses shared the same architect, we marked Jasper as a MUST PLAY. Needless to say, we were very underwhelmed by the course as a whole, and shocked at how overpriced the course was. Sure, the course offers its fair share of views, namely the 8th or 9th hole (can't remember which) which is a downhill par 3 that has a great mountain backdrop, but for $150 we were expecting so much more, especially after being so awestruck by the beauty of the other courses that we had played in the same price range (Silvertip and Stewart Creek as well).

The drive was well worth it from the Banff area. Although it was 3-3.5 hours away, we saw a TON of wildlife on the way up (bear, mountain goat, mule deer), and snapped about 100 photos of the mountains.

Anyways, back to the course... The course was surprisingly flat, and its age was showing a bit. The course had an older feel, and didn't feel relevant. We hit a number of irons off the tees on par 4s and the par 5s were reachable . Also, the fairways were really wide open and there wasn't a noticeable difference between the fairway cut and the rough.

Only one other hole really stood out as memorable: the 15th. It was a good opportunity for a picture, as it was right on a pristine, glacial blue lake. But, like so many other holes, we all hit irons off the tee setting up a short wedge into the green. During our experience, though, there was a bear on the course, which was kind of cool for us city folk (and a little scary at the same time).

Overall, for us, the thing that made the 3.5 hour drive up worthwhile were the views on the drive itself. The course was forgettable and probably $100 too expensive. We played six courses in total on our trip and we all agreed that this ranked #6.

“nice scenery - but has now gone to expensive!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2009

having played at the "lodge" on many occasions over the past 20+ visits to jasper - i now find it over priced for what you get. the course is always in good condition when i play it in the fall - the scenery as you play the course is superb. as i have become known to the staff and locals the welcome i get is second to none - it just breaks my heart to say that i now find it to expensive to play on my vacations at nearly $200 a round. it is unfortunate that the nearest golf course to jasper - after the lodge - is hinton (some 45 mins drive away) which is inferior by comparison. however many of the locals now choose this option as they have been priced out by the "tourist rate".
i would recommend playing golf at kananaskis and play both courses for the price of one round at JPL!!! they are as good - if not better than JPL and the scenery is a match for anything in jasper. the only downfall is that carts must be kept on the paths at all times - it's easier to walk the course unless you can place the ball by the cart path every time - in which case you should be playing professional golf!! if you are only going to play JPL once and you want to say you have played it then i suppose it's a price you have to pay - be warned though - the rounds there tend to be very slow!!!

“Amazing Scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2009

Staff were wonderful and helpful in every way. The course was in great condition after just having been opened after a lot of snow. The round was very slow due to people in front slowing everything down and hence we did not finish our round as it was too cold and getting too dark 9.45pm at night. Great scenery and the wildlife on the course was fantastic. Coming from New Zealand the scenery was incredible. Top marks to the staff and green keepers.
