“Jasper hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2011

This hotel is close to bars and restaurants and more important for us only 5 minutes and you are surrounded by beautiful lakes and mountains. We loved Jasper for its location and the un touched natural town. The rooms are a little tired, however the staff are great, on the ball and the location makes up for this. Would I stay here again yes I would.

We arrived late in the evening and front desk staff were very helpful if service was slightly slow. Our room was huge, with views over the mountains - fantastic. The two queen beds in our room were extremely comfortable. The room and bathroom were very clean and warm. The hotel was 90% full but we heard not one piece of noise through our stay. Yes the hotel decor could be viewed as slightly out dated but we found all areas to be very clean and well kept. Hopefully we will visit Jasper again and we would definately seek to say here again.

2 nights here the hotel is on the outskirts of town a good 10 /15 min walk (but its on the flat) hotel check in all ok and room ok looks old and dark but all good , big under ground car park so no problems there, the only little down side for us was the coach partys, it was like a stampeed to get breakfast, then out and stand in the lobby waiting the the coach in everyones way, but we booked knowing its a big stopover for the train and coach, so would try to avoid this next visit,

We checked in at the Chateau Jasper near the end of a luxury rail/Rockies tour across Canada. We had already stayed at the Jasper Park Lodge, but wanted to be able to explore the town on this leg of our trip. We had a suite, with a lovely view of the mountains and the ability to get a breeze with the windows open, which was important with the weather. The space was lovely after the tiny cabin on the train. The bed was very comfortable and the shower excellent.

There was a noise issue for this particular suite (the Banff Suite) - the elevators' groan. We were so tired from very active days that it turned out to be a non-issue. For travelers at the beginning of their adventure it might be a nuisance.

Nice restaurant. Good breakfast buffet with healthy choices.

We were happy that our travel agent booked us here.

First, no one helped us with our luggages when we arrived at the "Chateau". At this Chateau, everything is DIY. I had to push four luggages into the hotel alone in the cold weather while my partner went to find a parking lot.

The receptionist was just doing the bare minimum and you couldn't fault her for not going the extra mile. There was no porter and we had to bring our luggages to our room ourselves again!

The room is so old and it looked so 1970s! It was not clean either. The carpet was not vacuumed and it was full of women's hair!! I started wondering where did all the hair come from. The bed was not exactly inviting and my partner could not sleep the entire night because the sheets just didn't look clean. And where is the shower gel?? In this age, shower gel is a must and most people do not like to use soap anymore. Please provide shower gel as an alternative.

We didn't eat at the restaurant because it was occupied by a tour group (too crowded in there). Anyway, we settled our dinner in a restaurant within walking distance from the "chateau" and we got out of the town early next day.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m sorry that we did not meet your expectations in terms of service and décor, and would like to apologize for the hair you found on the carpet. Rest assured that this is not a reflection on our standards of cleanliness.
Please note that we strive to provide the best service to our guests. Most of the items aforementioned would have been rectified immediately should it have been communicated to us. We have a porter on duty at all times - while he may have been attending to another guest at the time that you checked in, he was just a radio call away should a request have been made. We do at times cater to tour groups, and reservations can be arranged through the front desk to avoid the crowds. Last, we don’t expect anyone to sleep in a bed that appears substandard, and while I can assure you that we replace the linen daily, we would have been happy to replace the linen in your room with a fresh set for your peace of mind.
Once again, I am sorry that you were disappointed with your stay, and I wish you all the best with your future travel plans.

We stayed here for two nights in May.
The hotel is located within walking distance of town. The hotel is pretty old style and obviously gets the majority of its business from tour buses.
Staff at the front desk not exactly the friendliest and they certainly didnt really like the look of us as we definitely got the worst room in the inn - view over the car park and right beside the vending machines and ice machine which hummed all night long.....
However the hotel serves its purpose - its clean, good location, spacious and they pool area is pretty goood.
Believe me when in Jasper you wont be hanging out in the hotel so if this suits your budget then it is more than adequate.
