“Very comfortable room. Only downside is distance from town.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

Yes, Jasper was the most expensive place to stay in the Rockies for us and accommodations seemed to be snapped up quickly online. Anyway, we ended up booking Maligne Lodge, and while we were there for 2 nights (Sept), the 'Vacancy' sign remained on, so maybe it's not *that* busy.
Our room smelt nice on entry and was very spacious, with 2x Queen/King beds (very comfortable) on the second floor, which I requested. Unfortunately, this means that you do have to drag your luggage up a short flight of stairs yourself. There's an LCD TV, coffee maker, fridge, iron+board, free wifi, free bathroom amenities, free local calls from the room phone, but no safe. Some small issues were that the bathroom door was very stiff- you had to lean in hard to close the door and the lock still doesn't always engage. Also, the bathroom could use a ventilation fan to prevent fogging up of the one and only mirror in the entire room. There seems to be no control for the room temperature- just a fan, but this was sufficient for us. We didn't try their breakfast next door, which seems pricey at $13.
So the room itself was great and we did appreciate that they truthfully advertised a 15 min walk to one edge of the town- it's a straight road down. However, even this distance can be an inconvenience when it's late at night and you have heavy shopping to carry and/or if it rained, which all happened to us. When we were tired from just having arrived for our first night, it also seemed like a bigger task than it was, to have to do a 30 min round trip just to grab a bite to eat. If you have a car or bike to get around, it'd be perfect.

Thank you for taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor. Its always great to hear feedback from our guests. I am glad to see that you enjoyed your room with all the amenities and services offered. A 15 minute walk to town can be enjoyable when the weather cooperates - its unfortunate that this was not a great experience for you. My team and I look forward to hosting you again in the near future.

Hotel room was very clean, a little dated but good price. Pool and hot tub areas were clean as well. The front desk staff was friendly esp. when people were coming at him from all directions ;o) Will definately stay again. The bed was pretty good.

Stayed there middle of October 2012. When we arrived gave us a room in the building they renovating. refused that one so we were put in a room at the back of hotel with a window facing a concrete block wall. The room was dirty , worn, dark. Phoned desk next day and requested a move, tada all of a sudden a nice room was offered. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

I am extremely disappointed to hear about your recent experience at the Maligne Lodge. I have forwarded your comments to my Assistant Manager to immediately look into this situation. Please be assured that this is not the standard of service I expect my guests to receive when staying at our property. If you could take a moment to contact me directly, I would appreciate discussing your experience with you. Thank you for your feedback and I look forward to hearing from you.

I stayed here on a Saturday night. The front desk staff were very helpful. On checking in I had a problem with the door to my room. They were very quick to resolve the problem but even so offered to move me to another room if I did not want to wait for the fix. The room was clean and spacious ( with a kitchenette, lounge and separate bedroom). The bed linen was spotless and plenty of pillows and extra blankets if required. If I come back to Jasper, and I do hope to bring the family next time,mi would not hesitate to stay here.

We arrived late on a Thursday night around 9pm. Kids has quick dip in pool, only people in it, then outside to hot tub. Room was basic but ok for brief stay. Room has one queen and one double so it was tight for two adults + two kids. Hotel beds were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also clean with great shower with tons of hot water and pressure. Handy to have sink outside of bathroom when traveling with kids. Good location and we didn't hear any noise from other guests. Very nice soap/shampoo in bathrooms - nice surprise!

Room Tip: Our room (143) opened out to parking lot/courtyard like a motel. We simply reversed in and it was 10...

The hotel is easy to find being right at the end of the main street. Our room had a kitchenette with stove, small fridge, microwave, sink, dishes, etc. which allowed us to save a bunjdle on food. We ate breakfast and dinner in the room and bought lunch out. There was a small table, 4 woodin chairs, an easy chair (very comfortable), tv, and a double bed in the front room. There was a separate bedroom with another double bed.
The bathroom was small but had a tob with a very good shower. We had lots of towels.
Jasper is VERY expensive so, although costly, this hotel was within the prices asked in town.

Room Tip: Very few of the "bed and breakfast" places in Jasper serve any breakfast so check BEFORE y...
