5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2007

We stayed at this resort at the end of our trip from Calgary to visit friends in Banff. Although it was a long drive from Banff it was worth it. The cabins were cosy and clean with a great log fire and other amenities such as TV, tea and coffee and an outdoor hot pool. The town of Jasper is a little limited after coming from Banff, however it is great for relaxation. The town is a 5min drive from the cabins and I would recommend the need for a car in this location. The staff were very very helpful and friendly. This place is a great get away from a fast paced life, but bring plenty of board games etc for those rainy days.

  • Liked — Location, views, clean rooms.
  • Disliked — Limited services such as room service and staff were sometimes over friendly.

We stayed in a delux bedroom suite and it was fantastic with a great king bed, real fire and private terrace! It didn't have a full kitchen or bbq (unlike some of the other cabins), but there was a fridge, coffee maker and microwave. If you book a delux bedroom suite I'd recommend unit L - it has the most secluded terrace which gets the sun for a good part of the day and evening.

You will never be disappointed visiting the Canadian Rockies and you will never be disappointed staying at the Alpine Village. This was our third visit to this property and we'll certainly be back for a fourth.

The location is stunning, just across the road from the Athabasca River (grab a drink and sit down in one of the many chairs provided on the river's edge). We stayed in a deluxe bedroom suite with a beautiful fireplace, and sitting area and there is also lovely private outdoor patio. There was no kitchen in this unit but a fridge, microwave and coffee maker are provided. Jasper townsite is just a short distance away with lots of dining options.

Our first night the furnace in our suite stopped working and it became quite cold but we just grabbed the two extra wool blankets that were provided and snuggled into what seemed like the most comfortable bed in the world. The problem with the furnace was efficiently dealt with the next day (the staff seemed a bit puzzled that we didn't call them when the furnace went out - but it's hard to complain when you're having the best sleep you've had in months!)

The housekeeping and maintenance staff are to be truly commended. The rooms kept stunningly clean and the property and buildings are beautifully maintained. This is obviously a very well managed resort and a credit to the owners.

  • Liked — Incredible comfort in a spectacular location.
  • Disliked — Nothing.

Just left this wonderful treasure. The family, Laia--their boxer and the hard working staff are so welcoming. The cabins are just too perfect, especially the new ones facing the Athabasca (try to get one of these cabins-delightful). You can barbeque, sit out on your porch or sit out on the deck chairs by the river bank and wave hello to the passing rafting boats. This is better than any spa. I hope you get a chance to visit.

  • Liked — The cabins on the river were lovely, spacious. You felt comfortable the minute you walked in the door. The porch was perfect, too.

We just returned from a great escape to Jasper & 2 wonderful nights at Alpine Village. We stayed in a "historic" 1-room cabin with fireplace & it was fantastic -- lovingly restored & maintained, spotlessly clean, lovely gardens, & all modern improvements (like the plumbing!) were in keeping with the 1940s log cabin motif.
These are the cabins you search for & long to find, but rarely do. All cabins are tucked into the woods with a decent amount of privacy -- you won't be staring into the neighbors patio. The staff was delightful as well -- friendly, helpful, fun. Alpine Village is a 5 min. drive into Jasper & right accross from the Athabasca river. We were there just as they were opening for the season so we lucked out with rates & availability. Otherwise, be sure & make reservations!
We also checked out Jasper Park Lodge ... we were not impressed. Unless you plan to stay in the most expensive room on the lake, you're going to be in a room staring at asphalt or the asphalt next door -- the grounds were distinctly depressing.

  • Liked — Romantic, nostalgic log cabin
  • Disliked — Have to go elsewhere for a restaurant (or cook -- yikes!)

We just didn't want to leave...so pretty, so peaceful. We go back whenever we can. The place is clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Family friendly (went with toddlers!)... Even consider it somewhat better than the Farimont Jasper - just a sweet place.

  • Liked — Value for the money , scenery, excellent accomodations, cleanliness, ease of coming & going.
  • Disliked — Didn't feel there was anything to dislike.

We are a family of 5 with 3 children ranging from 1 to 14. We loved the deluxe cabin we stayed in. The standard was high and the beds very comfortable. The little one loved the play house in the woods and the older ones loved the hot tub. We woke one morning to find a herd of deer on the lawn. Could only get booked up for 2 nights in August, but would have loved to have stayed longer.

  • Liked — great design and very clean
  • Disliked — Nothing
  • Tips/Secrets — Don't venture down through the woods at dusk as there is a lake and lots of mosquitos
