“Not a quiet retreat!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2012

Although this was a newly built accommodation, there was insufficient sound-proofing between the B&B basement bedroom and the owners' home. The owners' TV room/livingroom is situated above the B&B bedroom. We could easily hear the owners' TV, which they watched until past 11:30.

The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable; however, the room was very dark. There is only one small window, which has a window well around it, making it impossible to see what it might be like outside. Although the owners were very nice, it doesn't make up for the poor sleep we had there. If you plan on staying here, be sure to bring earplugs with you. You will need them unfortunately.

We spent two nights in the Fitzhugh House in Jasper in September 2011 and were very satisfied with our stay.
The rooms are located in the basement, are new and well equipped with Flatscreen-TVs, Cable-HD-TV, Blueray, small kitchen and a very nice bathroom. Rooms were very clean, the owner was helpful - Overall a clear recommendation - only two small disadvantages:
- Rooms are located in the basement and therefore lacking sun-light
- Breakfast is not allowed to be offered by the owner

We stayed at the Fitzhugh House in the Moss Room for 3 nights. Pattie met us at the door and took us to our own entrance with an inner foyer. It was very clean, nicely furnished and had a beautiful bathroom with lit shower. ( blow dryer, shampoo provided) There was also a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, coffee maker, dishes, sink and small table and chairs, etc. Pretty much all you need for breakfast and heating up food. We are not the visiting type so she let us know that we could call on her if there was anything we needed and then gave us our space. There was a large flat screen with satellite service so lots of channels. Now my hubby wants HD Sports too. ; ( We were within easy walking distance of downtown so we did a lot of walking. The railroad was a few blocks down and although initially that concerned me, I did not hear the trains at all. We had a lovely time in Jasper and at the Fitzhugh, I would stay here again.

Couldn't speak more highly of this little gem of a place. We arrived late in the afternoon in Jasper and was fortunate enough to stumble acoss Fitzhugh house. The owners were extremely helpful with all our questions about what to do in Jasper including giving us inside information to mountain bike tracks off the main tourist trail.. The room is tastefully decorated - a huge flat screen TV, kitchenette, coffee maker, table & chair (look in pantry),fantastic bathroom!! Couldn't ask for more. Fitzhugh is total value for money - especially compared to what you would pay for similar luxuries in hotel.Would highly reccommend.

The Fitzhugh's word is no good.

You are definitely confirmed for April 5, the Fitzhugh's email said back in September. See you then!

Uh-uh: the Fitzhugh called a couple weeks before departure to cancel the reservation. We were staying for only one night but then the Fitzhugh found they could rent the room for a longer stay. So we were out. Don't worry, the Fitzhugh said. An alternative place will call within 24 hours with a room as nice as theirs.

Uh-uh: we never received a call from the other place, and it did not respond to my attempt to contact them.

My wife and I found a room on our own, so no big deal. But I thought Trip Advisor readers should know they can count on a Fitzhugh confirmation only if a better deal doesn't come its way.

I purchased a 2 night stay via the Miss Rodeo Jasper on-line auction for the Fitzhugh House. From the start of reserving a date to the end of the stay....I enjoyed all aspects of the accommodation! The room with a large bathroom, kitchen sink, fridge & big screen TV is uniquely decorated with rustic furniture & beautiful decor. The hosts are extremely friendly & wonderful to get to know. They made the stay in Jasper comfortable, clean & charming. Being close to downtown Jasper was convenient to just walk out & plan a day of activities. Yet...the location is quiet & tranquil.

THANK YOU Fitzhugh House for being a great ambassador for Jasper & supporter of Miss Rodeo Canada!

I stayed at Fitzhugh House shortly after it opened (my stay was in Sept. 2009 it would not let me enter this in the date of stay). The quality and cleanliness of my room was second to none and I had the peace and quiet of being away from a much busier establishment. At the time of my stay, the television and computer facilities had not been installed but that did not detract from the quality of my stay. That has all been addressed with the installation of a top quality large flat screen TV, DVD player and internet access. Arrangements exist for obtaining meals and DVD rentals. I will be definitely be using Fitzhugh House again.
