“the ideal place to enjoy Athabasca River”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

Bungalows are in a very beautiful and tranquil area, 5/6km out of town.
We stayed in a river front cottage where was a small sitting room, kitchenette, a spacious badroom and a clean bathroom.
It is possible to walk down to the river where you can enjoy clear water, trails, trees and mountains. Seats to sit and relax.
Staff efficient but not so friendly.

Very small cabin for four people. Good location but don't expect a large family room if you book for four people. The view from the bungalows of the river was spectacular. WiFi connectivity was terrible. Everything was clean an tidy and the kitchenette small but useable.

My husband and I really enjoyed staying at Jasper House Bungalows in Sept 2012.
We had a suite with a small living room, kitchenette and bedroom.
Amazing views, extremely comfortable bed and very friendly staff.
This place is fun - try it.
Tip - if you need to do laundry, do it at Coin Clean Laundry in the center of Jasper - clean, efficient and there is a coffee bar!

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the river - great view and very quiet

We stayed here two nights during our Canadian Rocky tour. The cabins have the river behind it where they have benches and trails to sit and enjoy the river. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the staff was very friendly including the dogs who ride on the golf carts. While there we saw a great bull elk across the road.

Cabins in a lovely setting, in the woods next to the river. Plenty of walking paths, although we kept an eye out for signs of bears. The on-site restaurant offers many choices. We took the the scrabble game from the lobby into the bar. Wetting the whistle helped find words?! Our group set up a marshmellow roast at sunset, a lovely way to see the day end. Staff was quite accommodating.

Friendly and obliging staff. Our stay here a highlight of our Canadian holiday. Glad it was just outside Jasper, which was very busy and crowded, as peak vacation period. We had a riverfront cabin, 16, and the view of the Athabasca river from the large picture windows was beautiful all times of the day and night. Cabin actually in a shared block of 4 which ends up as 2 middle cabins facing river and 1 on left and 1 on right side.Free car parking nearby. I was surprised to learn the cabin was built approximately 1986 as it looked very new and everything was clean and spotless. Not air-conditioned but wide-opening windows with insect screening ensured the cabin was pleasant. We didn't need to turn the pedestal fan on and it was during hottest days of August. Bathroom good size, with ample storage and area of kitchenette and lounge/dining area spacious. Bedroom faces rear and is small but is separate. The sublime view is at the front. Kitchenette was extremely well fitted out with good cutlery, glasses, crockery, pots and pans and long stays, self-catering would be easy. In fact recommended. The much discussed gazebo was in front of this block and we had it to ourselves for an hour early evening so felt privileged. Only to find that walking down to edge of the bluff and sitting on one of the many shaded garden benches widely spaced along that riverfront walking area gave the best, widest view of the river and surrounds. It was the place to sit in cool, peaceful tranquility or take photographs from. We, and many others, took a drink down and enjoyed the beauty of the early evening from a bench in seeming solitude. Easy walk down the path led to the sandy foreshore and river for a different but captivating view. My only issue was about the Adirondack chairs. When we arrived there were two in front of our cabin, as with all cabins. When we were ready to go outside the chairs had been taken away to the end cabin, where they remained. A large number of guests were staying there apparently. So we moved on and found public chairs and places to sit along the front but perhaps this is an etiquette matter. Anyone there that weekend knew the facility totally booked out so presumably every cabin needed chairs. However we loved Jasper House Bungalows and regard it as the definitive Canadian cabin holiday. A longer stay would have been wonderful. Great value for money.
Jasper House Bungalows can be hard to find dependant upon side of highway approaching from. Only a 10 minute drive away from Jasper. Seeing the Rocky Mountaineer at the station was exciting and the Retail outlets in Jasper were interesting to browse in. Loved the Christmas Shop. A very well priced and well stocked outlet with the loveliest proprietors. That was where I boosted the local economy, deservedly.

Room Tip: Definitely a riverfront view cabin. The views are beautiful.

We stayed in the Riverview Suite for Two for two nights. It was a wonderful experience! It was so lovely to look out the window in the morning and see the milky blue Athabasca River running right outside. We were able to just step outside and walk down to the benches overlooking the river, or to the beach immediately below. It was amazing!

The cabin provides ample room for two, with a large living/dining area and a nice kitchen with stove (2 burners), toaster oven, fridge, and microwave. The bathroom has a nice amount of counter space. The bedroom is a bit cramped, with the door hitting the nightstand on one side of the bed when it opens, but it's not really a problem. We cooked a full meal the second night with the provided cooking and dining equipment - really great after a day of driving and hiking!

WiFi was not detectable in the cabin, although theoretically it was supposed to be available in many places in the complex. The first night it was a bit cold in the cabin, so I adjusted the thermostat up. The second night it was boiling - so we cracked the windows a bit. The heating works, anyway.

Staff were courteous and efficient, and provided enticing warnings that the elk were rutting and we should stay far away from them. The reviews and warnings did not disappoint, as we returned in the afternoon to see two female elk grazing nonchalantly in the central picnic area! A bit later we explored the riverside trails leading from the cabins, and saw two (maybe the same) elk in the woods.

Basically, this was a great place to stay - just outside town, but really feeling like you're experiencing the park even in the cabin. I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Request the River View rooms - it is more than worth it!!
