“Beautiful location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

We stayed in a Lodge B&B Room for one night while driving thru Rockies. The Lodge was in a beautiful location with a spectacular view over the rivers. The rooms were clean and comfortable just a bit small - especially the bathroom. However I would recommend it as a scenic alternative to staying in a hotel in town. The restaurant served excellent food and we had the pleasure of seeing some elk wander past while dining. Would love to stay in cabins for an extended holiday!

The lodges are in a great location, about 1km from downtown Jasper and far enough away from the main highway to ensure peace & quiet.
Our cabin accommodated 4 people in reasonable comfort, the criticism would be (i) no room to store clothes other than a small wardrobe and both beds are only accessible from one side. That said the cabins are quaint, have reasonably equipped kitchens, an open fire and with surroundings to die for.
We'd recommend cabins 6 & 7 for their position.
We didn't eat in the restaurant but hear that it's really good.

We stayed in a lodge room D which included breakfast buffet. The room was small, but nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. The location was great. I would definately go back there to stay.

Two things:
1) The shower in the lodge room was tiny. I could hardly maneuver myself within it, even though I am small, 5'3 and 115 pounds.
2) At night I could hear the dishes clanking from the kitchen downstairs until about 11:15 pm. It kept me awake with a combined effect of caffein (coffee) I had earlier that day. The noise did not bother my friend at all. She slept like a rock.

Room Tip: Avoid the kitchen area perhaps.

Good location with well designed cabins, nice location, peaceful setting. cabins built with wilderness retained. Excellent staff. Miette cabin (queen bed) is a semi detached cabin so good to know before you book. was not an issue though. benches avialble outside the cabins and overlooking the river for nice sunrise coffee etc. Ideal for long stays due to facilities, but the price was too expensive and overpriced even for July period.

Room Tip: Not sure if any cabin will have a view of the river.

We staid at Tekarra Lodge during our trip to Jasper. We (five adults) had rented one of the wooden lodges. All in all it was a disappointment.
The location itself is beautiful, no complaints about the views from the park. The lodge though lacks comfort.
The beds are short and narrow, so sleeping two adults in the doubles is no pleasure. We were there in July and it was hot in Jasper. The lodge has no airco, so the cabin gets very hot and stays so for a large part of the night. The combination with cramped beds is not ideal.
While the place was clean, it looks outdated and a bit rundown.
Electrical sockets are scarce, so when I wanted to use my laptop I had to put it on top of the fridge, because near the table there was no socket available.

Pricewise Tekarra was one of the most expensive places of our trip and also the worst in terms of space and overall quality.

This is definitely a place I wouldn't recommend.

We have frequented Jasper regularly for a year now and each time we stayed somewhere new. This particular location met ALL our needs. It was clean, cozy, close to town, friendly and knowledgeable staff. We were so very impressed that we planned our son's birthday to be celebrated here! Don't miss out on the amazing trail system which is easy to use and beautiful. Very romantic as well.

Room Tip: We were in a small cabin, but when we rebooked for another occassion, we chose a larger cabin. Space...

Tekarra Cabins are about 1 miles from Jasper town, on the confluence of 2 rivers, facing south toward the gorgeous mountains. The property is very well managed, and maintained, and the staff is unusually friendly and responsive. There are nice chairs perched on the bluff for all to share. Two nights a week, Tekarra has a naturalist program, she was very good. They have front suspension mountain bikes to rent on site, $20 an hour.

The cabins are all shapes and sizes, ours was pretty small, I think it was an Alberta duplex, and 2 of us were pretty cramped. There was hardly any space to put our suitcases. But, it was charming, with a fireplace, wood everything, and an nice porch outside with flowers in the hanging basket. The kitchen was very small, but did the deed. The gas stove leaked a propane smell that was pretty disagreeable, Tekarra offered to turn it off, but we didn't want to have them come out to light it every time we wanted to use it.

The managers do a good job with what they have, but they have an aging property with charm, and you should have lowish expectations, this is not luxury. In our 3 weeks in BC, it was the worst value of anywhere we stayed, $250 a night for a very small cabin.

The restaurant on site is excellent, and fairly high end, you probably wouldn't eat there every night, but save it for one special night. It's quality rivals the best of city dining, very creative, beautiful, original with small servings.
