We have stayed in Jasper hotels a couple of times before & not been thrilled, so we thought we would push the boat out & try Chateau Jasper - until we read the reviews on tripadvisor. So decided to take Tripadvisor's advice & went for Becker's chalet's. We stayed in a deluxe 2 person as the 4 person were fully booked. It was more than big enough for the four of us, having a separate double bedroom & a sofa bed in the lounge. The place was quiet, despite being on the main Highway from Banff to Jasper. The complex itself was very tidy & the chalets were meticulously clean. The breakfast at the 'gourmet' restaurant was OK - nothing great but nothing particularly wrong either. It just didn't appeal for Dinner - my idea of 'gourmet dining' isn't seeing the menu scribbled on a whiteboard & propped aginst the dining room door. Otherwise a very pleasant experience.

The best place we found out of the five that we stayed at on our two week holiday in Alberta. The park setting is peaceful (even though there are 100 cabins and it was full), and the location is great, right next to a river, you can watch the rafts go by. The lodges are spotless, and have everything you need. We had breakfast on our last morning, and although not the best that we sampled, it certainly beats anything back in England. We can't wait to go back.

Becker's is located just off the main road so it is impossible to miss. For two nights we stayed in a one bedroom cabin that faced an open area. We were not lucky enough to see any elk congregating there (they left nice reminders). The river was closeby and very pleasant and peaceful. We thought the accommodations were perfect. It looked recently rennovated (fridge and stove were spotless as was bathroom). It wasn't a high quality remodel or anything but for a mountain cabin (at that price) it couldn't be beat. We did not eat in the restaurant. The town is about a 5 minute drive. We would definitely recommend Becker's.

  • Liked — It was new, clean and in a nice setting by the river
  • Disliked — We missed the elk!

What a gem of a location...! Situated in a bend in the road heading into Jasper from the South (Columbia Icefields area)RIGHT on the Athanasca River about 5 minutes from Jasper townsite...quiet, peaceful and green! Little log-cabin lodges scattered all around the property.

We stayed in both a 1-br 4-plex type lodge as well as the larger 2-br lodge...both were clean and comfortable...not fancy, but nice. Kitchen and living room/sitting area were a bonus...the only thing in the 2-br that was unusual is that the larger bedroom has a vaulted ceiling that opens to the front sitting area above the wall that separates it from the kitchenette...meaning that if someone wants to watch TV after bedtime-the occupants of the adjacent bedroom will hear EVERYTHING.

The single little cabins right down by the riverside look really cute; some of the little solo cabins are scattered inside the property. While most every place looked out on a nice lawn or amongst the trees...SOME of them seemed to be directly beside the access roads thru the property, and we wondered about noise from other guests and traffic...have a careful look at the actual location of the accommodation you book and you'll be fine-it's a fabulous place to stop and explore the Jasper area, to be sure!!!

Loved the row of adirondack chairs under the trees overlooking the river...it felt like I was IN a postcard while I sat there writing my postcards...

We ate at the restaurant one night; good food-NOT cheap, and a little unusual take on some sauces and combinations in the menu...very good service though; an enjoyable dinner for sure!

We stayed at Becker's chalets for 6 nights in early August. We had one of the 2 bedroom chalets, so had 2 kids in each bedroom, plus 2 adults on the sofabed in the lounge. Chalet was well-equiped and great to look at (lots of wood), but a little cramped for 6 people.
We found the location ideal - right on the Athabasca river with fantastic views, yet only 5 mins drive to downtown Jasper.
The restaurant is excellent - we had an outstanding dinner there. Breakfast was OK, though thought charging for juices in addition to the buffet price was a bit off.
We'd definitely go back again !
