Stayed 6 nights in a "log cabin" by the river - it was fab!
The cabins to go for are the detached ones nearest to the river. They are quiet and offer a super location to sit and relax, whilst rafters float by on the Athabasca River. We stayed at number 36 which was probably one of the best located cabins.
They consist of a bedroom (with a small double bed), a bathroom (with a metal cabinet for a shower) kitchenette and lounge. For the 2 of us, it was ideal.
The restaurant was OK, but I didn't get too excited about it - despite it's reputation.
You do have to drive everywhere - but that's OK.
Eating in Jasper was fine, with decent food served up.

This is a rare instance where the trip advisor reviews were not reflective of my experience. Most people seemed to like Becker's, whereas I thought it was pretty poor. To be fair, I didn't stay at any other hotel in Jaspar, so maybe it is OK in comparison. First of all, the log cabins are cheek by jowl, so no privacy. We were there during a rare heat spell, so not only wasn't there AC, but it was light out until almost midnight, and kids were running wild, playing ball and screaching until all hours. The clientele there seemed like trailer trash, despite the place being somewhat expensive. There were lots of motorcyclists, and busloads of German tourists, all of whom added to the noise level. The restaurant did serve a fairly gourmet dinner, but the breakfast buffet was blah and expensive. The housekeeping was really bad, if even my slobby 18 year-old son noticed that his whiskers from shaving were still in the sink 5 days later. The cleaning crew didn't arrive to our cabin until 4:30, at which time we had just returned from strenuous hiking, so were ready for a nap. When I complained and asked them to come earlier on subsequent days, I was told we should just nap by the river. The last night, there was a black-out. They didn't carry any candles or flashlights for the tourists, although I'm sure this is a frequent occurrence. A large pine tree blew onto the cabin next to us in the storm, and they were chain-sawing it up until after midnight. Finally, the beds were like rocks, and the bathrooms had all the size, amenities and cleanliness of a service station's restroom. Jasper itself was gorgeous, and we had a wonderful trip. But avoid Becker's if you go.

Read good reviews and therefore decided to stay at Beckers for three nights whist we were in the area. We had a car and loved the location. Beckers is about 5 minutes' drive from Jasper so it is away from the hustle and bustle. We had a cabin by the river so enjoyed the tranquil and peaceful surroundings of our cabin.

We prefer bright rooms and found the bedroom to be dimly lit. The bed was a double which was adequate for the two of us (since we are medium sized people - one less than 150lbs and the other less than 180lbs) but if there were two large sized people the bed might be a bit small. The shower cubicle was small as well, approximately 32 incles square. The shower was adequate with good hot water though. The kitchens were small as well but we found it to be adequate for the two of us and there was a small table where two persons could eat at. The kitchen had a microwave, a small fridge and stove-tops. Dishwashing fluid, salt and pepper were provided. We saw the notice warning people to wash their dishes (this was commented on by some reviewers) but thought nothing of it cos that is what we always do anyway. There was a gas fireplace in the living area and a small TV above the fireplace. There was also a heater which was nice since it was placed near the bedroom and could provide warmth to the whole cabin at night.

We tried the restaurant which was next to the Reception since we had read good reviews about it. My husband had the mussels and the lamb. The mussels were nothing to write home about but the lamb was alright. I had a starter (can't remember exactly what it was) and the rainbow trout. Both were mediocre. Perhaps it was the main chef's night off?

All in all, our stay at Beckers was a very good one and we would definitely consider staying here again.

“Beautiful woooden chalets in a picturesque setting”

Becker's Roaring River Chalets

I have recently been touring the Rockies in Canada with my partner and visited Jasper on my lengthy yet wonderful trip. We stayed at the Becker's Chalets, just outside of Jasper and were not at all disappointed. The Chalets are about 3 miles out of town on the Glacier highway just before the entry point to Jasper National Park. The Chalet's are all of different sizes and cost although they are all well maintained and in harmony with the local environment. The chalet park sits by the Athabasca river overlooking Mount Robson and the Jasper National Park. The wildlife here is both abundant and close at hand! You will more than likely spot Elk or Moose in the chalet park early in the morning grazing by the river! On entry the reception is helpful and friendly and this sits by the side of the large yet a touch expensive, chalet park restaurant.

You will definetely need some transport to get here and I advise you to hire a small car as taxi's here are very expensive to go back and forth to Jasper town.

The Chalet we stayed in was a deluxe upper level chalet overlooking the central green and play area for the children. It was a bit noisey on arrival due to a hockey match being played on TV and the local children (mainly from Edmonton) were getting excited ... but hey! What do you expect, they're there for some fun aswell. They did quieten down later in the day though! All in all the chalet was great value for $cdn 155 per night with immitation log gas fire, TV, Balcony, Lounge, Bathroom with bath and shower and one bedroom with double Queen bed. The rooms were cleaned daily. All non smoking.

The views are tremendous and the setting is very peaceful and handy for the park itself.

My only faults were:
1) Taxi's to and from Chalet Park are expensive but does not reflect on chalet's at all.
2) No supermarket or anywhere to buy goods except wood, BBQ hire and general souvenirs and information etc. Buy before you arrive.
3) The restaurant is a little expensive but food is good. Beware that they close early when the chalet park is quiet. Usually open until 11am, one night closed at 8.15pm without warning!
4) No coffee shop or food available from 11am to 5pm

Plus side: Good clean and maintained to high standard.
Great area and setting by river....(warning of mosquitoes on warm days! - They DO BITE!!)
Friendly efficient and helpful staff
Ice and logs available and BBQ Hire!

Really enjoyed it...very safe for children ... supervision needed by river!
All chalets under floor heated. Score 8/10.
Will come again for sure..

We stayed in a deluxe chalet for two for three nights. It's quite expensive, but most accomodation is in Jasper and this location was better than anything in town.

It's situated just outside the national park and a couple of miles from the town so you will need a car to get around. The location on the river is great, with the white water hurtling past and the nicely kept grounds - ideal for an evening walk.

Our chalet had a comfortable seating area with gas fire and kitchen, a small balconey with seating, and a separate bedroom and bathroom. The decor was well maintained and everything was well kept.

There's also a laundry and shop on site if needed. We never tried the restaurant which they promoted heavily as a gourmet experience, but that had more to do with us not seeing anything we fancied on the menu!
