We (three adults) spent three weeks touring Western Canada and stayed in a variety of accommodations. None, however, compared to the truly awful chalet we were given for a three-night stay at Becker’s Chalets.
The chalet, known to us as “hut 2”, was cramped, dark, with old and shabby furniture and fittings. It looked nothing like the pictures in the brochure sent to us by the management. The two bedrooms were so small that they could barely accommodate one double bed in each room – since there was no space there were no cupboards, closets/wardrobes, drawers or bedside tables nor were there any elsewhere in hut 2 which laughably was supposed to accommodate 5 people. The fifth bed in the sitting area was a fitted structure that was approx. 5’6” long, far too small for an adult. One bedroom door was a plastic folding type – there was not enough space for a proper hinged door. The bathroom wasn’t any better with the basin being badly chipped, the mirror worn around the edges and the shower long overdue for replacement. The sitting area also cramped, old and tatty, was so depressing and the dreadful smell, which we assumed was caused by stale smoke, was literally sickening.
The was, however, one positive and that was the restaurant. The menu was interesting with the food well cooked and the staff helpful but there is no need to stay in Becker’s Chalets to be able to eat here!
