“One of the nicer hotels in GP”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2009

Like all hotels in GP it is pricy. Staff was excellent, however, and the room was quite comfortable. The beds were more comfortable than expected, some others thought they were almost too soft. Internet was easily connected and reliable. It was kept immaculate, and I am picky. Requests were delivered promptly and courteously. There is an on site spa, which I found to be expensive for what you receive. Perhaps I'm just used to what's available in larger cities. It was nice to have the spa facilities right there. There is an attached restarant, however I prefered the Keg, which is not far down the road. There is shopping, movie theaters, and restaraunts close by. Convenient location on a main artery, only about 8 miinutes to airport. Fitness facility, pool and steam room available.

I stay in GP all the time for work, but won't go back to the Holiday Inn.

I got stuck staying here because another hotel lost my reservation and everything else was booked up.

They overcharge for what you get. I would reccomend the Podollan, Sandman, Pomeroy, Best Western, Stanford Inn or the Holiday Inn Express over this hotel in Grande Prairie.

Bottom line, housekeeping was just plain negligent - one shouldn't find anything in their toilet upon check-in

I stayed at this hotel because the hotel was the location of a conference that I had attended. Four nights of this hotel and I was ready to give up on 'so-called' luxury hotels for good. The room smelled strongely of urine and there was evidence of the guests before me. One of my friends who attended this conference and stayed here as well, said her room was "disgusting".
I contacted the Hotel Manager to talk about the facility and left a voice message for him, he did not return my call. I subsequently emailed the manager and he did not return any correspondence what-so-ever. Management at this hotel evidently does not care about their guest. As well, many of the people who work at the hotel are in uniform and they would take their breaks just past the doors leading to the back parking lot. These workers were all smoking and did not care whether they blew smoke into anyone's path. There is legislation which prohibits smoking near any entrance to a public building: This hotel seems immune from legislation and common sense.

Half decent hotel! Fortunately, I go there on business, whereas the hotels in Northern Alberta are WAY overpriced!

No breakfast here, and the attached resturant in pretty pricey... perhaps a reflection of the clientel they hope to attract?

Good fitness room.. room for a solid circuit workout, with the usual treadmills, stationaries and some free weights, and some cable machines... you won't get ready for a Bodybuilding competition, but good for a wake up, or mid day workout.

Didn't try the pool or hot tub, but they are there.

I personally LIKE running the fan of the air conditioner/heater all the time to create white noise while at a hotel, and this hotel mechanics let you do that...

Not a bad place... lots of biz people...

While travelling on business in Grande Prarie, I had the oppurtunity to stay at the Holiday Inn Suites Hotel on my priority points. To make a long story short the service was fantastic,! The airport lost my luggage and the front desk went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable possible.

Thank god they had an on site resturant. I dont eat meat but the salads were delicious.

Thank you for a great stay :-)

Stayed here numerous times in the past two year. It's generally a good 3 star hotel for a basic stay.

Location: 107 Avenue and 98 Street in Grande Prairie. It's about 8 minutes from the airport. The hotel is across from a major power centre with several major Canadian retail stores and a movie theatre.

Airport Transportation: They have an unreliable hotel shuttle that leaves once an hour and services it's sister hotels: the Pomeroy Inn and the Best Western. On my stay here in November 2007, the shuttle was waiting at the airport to greet me (they are there for all flights so no need to call ahead). However, it had mechanical problems when I flew out the next morning and I was forced to call a taxi. On my most recent stay in March 2008, the shuttle was not at the airport (even though I had called ahead) due to mechanical problems again. I opted to take a taxi back to the airport rather than arrive too early or too late.

Check-in: Typically a painless affair. Staff will get you in and out as quickly as you can. They always ask to see ID with your credit card so don't take it personally. They have newspapers in the front lobby but they can be a day old.

Rooms: Larger than average I find. Beds are comfortable with plenty of pillows and there is always a working desk and free high speed internet. Also standard are a coffee maker and other usual things like iron. I think most rooms have a mini-fridge and microwave also. I've been upgraded a few times into a larger suite that has a separate living area and a kitchen area. I did find that I could easily hear noise in the hallway on some instances, however. Room cost that I've usually paid is $179 to 199 for a room with a CAA/AAA discount.

Washrooms: Lots of floor space. Average amount of counterspace and stocked with basic toiletries.

Gym: Decent equipment but I would prefer more cardio stuff. It gets busier in the late afternoon and early evening.

Parking: Plenty of parking and it's free.

Restaurant: I would suggest eating elsewhere since the restaurant is overpriced for what you get. If you're looking for a steak, go to the Keg (it's a chain but better food) 1 1/2 blocks away. There is a Kelseys and a few other restaurants in the power centre across the street. The lounge is not a bad place to get a drink and watch a game. However, the last time I was there, I had to contend with one very rowdy table who were drunk by 8pm.

Rooms were clean and for a jaquizi suite it was fairly inexpensie (230CAN$). Do not eat at the resturant for supper, I ate there two nights in a row and was very dissapointed. I paided $30 for a prime rib steak and it was like eating hard leather, I could not believe it! I never had a more discusting meal. Then next night I tried the pasta and it was horrible, STAY away from this resturant. Go to the Keg which is a half a block from this hotel.
