Was in town for a family wedding. Booked this hotel as this was the trendiest hotel w/ a really good price! ~$89/nite for 2 double beds!
The inside of the hotel is trendy, chic, and modern. According to the staff, this hotel was fully remodeled in late '07. The beds were comfy and so was the mattress. I was extremely impressed w/ the flat screen TV, Harmony universal remote (retails for ~$100 each), as well as satellite TV box in each room!
The exterior of the hotel was decrepit. Downtown Edmonton leaves much to be desired. Word on the street is that crime is a concern thus the bellman was patrolling the parking lot on a hourly basis. The parking lot was a decrepit lot behind the hotel. The asphalt was mostly broken and it seemed like a city lot more than a hotel parking lot. The exterior of the hotel was obviously also not part of the remodel in '07...
Service left much to be desired. As we requested two rooms, we requested for rooms next to each other, on the same floor, away from the elevator, and on a high level, all of which were denied since the hotel was "full" and we had a late check-in...fair. As I was about to take a shower, I noticed that the bathroom door, a sliding closet-type door, was unable to close.... Bellman came up to our room immediately and reassigned us to the room next door....WHAT? .... yup... so two rooms next to each other were available and the front desk agent LIED!
