“Ever shrinking gosh”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2012

At one point I ate her at least every week or two, but recent price increases and ever shrinking fish portions in the rolls keeps me away

“Best sushi place in Edmonton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2011

I've been there many times. I'll save your time and be brief about it.

Pros:
-best Japanese food around;
-many menu items - I like the pictures that accompany named menu items;
-fast delivery;
-good staff service;
-very reasonable prices;

Cons: location and lack of decent outside view (none actually). But hey, you're in for food I guess, and that's probably why prices are so reasonable.

“Best sushi rolls! Amazing Sashimi Boats!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2011

I have been going to this restaurant for at least 7 years. When I first went, it was still unknown and you could stop in anytime and get a seat but don't try that now. Make sure you get your reservation because now, its so busy that they have people waiting outside to get in.

Service: 7/10 when they're not busy, it's good, but if they are busy, give them a break because like a family business. Expect that it will take a little longer to get a refill or to get a missing napkin or chopsticks.

Atmosphere: As it is a smaller restaurant and family oriented, it's noisy but in a good way. Cozy would be the best description.

Food: If you like sushi/maki rolls, they have the best ones in town, better than the high end restaurants too! Although they do not have your special fishes like mirugai, uni, red tuna, ebi, etc.... but they still have your staples such as salmon, tuna, octopus, surf clam, scallop, red snapper, and it's always super fresh. If you order the boat, make sure you have 4 people because it's massive! They give you double the portions compared to a few of the high end jap restaurants in town. Must try their baked oyster, very good but this dish does take about 15minutes to bake.

I like it here because the food is fresh, the rolls are amazing, and it's usually only about $20/person vs some places in Edmonton that costs $50/person. As long as you get a reservation, you will be super happy with place. **if you are planning to just drop in on the weekends, don't be surprised to wait 25 minutes.

“Clean, good service, fast, but mediocre food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2011

Service is prompt and friendly. Food is bland relative to the reviews posted. There are better Japanese spots in Edmonton for the same price. Atmosphere is casual, but noted the cleanliness or the restaurant. Will not return.

“Super strip mall sashimi and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2011

Hungry AND cold in Edmontont? Time for Ichiban. A huge seafood hotpot is a ceramic potfull of fat-free broth, a ton of tofu, alimentary noodles, shrimp, scallops, veggies and assorted chunks of salmon and tuna: the best $14 meal I know . And try the terrifically-priced lunch bentos. Maki is well-priced, mildly innovative, and tasty, and pots of hearty green tea and the tofued miso soup are treats. The oyster ponzu is yummy any month, "r" or not. Tempura comes minus greasy, heavy armor -- it almost floats, the yam and broccoli shining through rice flour. Ichiban is home-away-from home friendly. And the fantastic Bon-Ton Bakery is down the block: 2 delights hiding by a busy West Ed thoroughfare.
