Two other moms and I went here with our young sons on the recommendation of our hotel--we asked for a family friendly restaurant within walking distance, and this was all they could think of. When we arrived, right after they opened, the staff all looked at each other and said "we're happy to serve you, but we only have one high chair!" Luckily two of us had travel high chairs back at the hotel, so we ran back to get those and returned.
Although they clearly don't serve families with young children on a regular basis they were incredibly accommodating. Our server was very friendly and wonderful with the children. When the owner/manager saw me trying to distract my son from the piano behind us, he came up and said "if he wants to play, let him play!"
The food was quite good. The portions were not huge, but for a fine dining restaurant they were not out of line (we also all ordered pasta dishes rather than meat dishes, so I can't comment on the size of those, they may well have been more substantial). They were also happy to accommodate requests to alter or substitute ingredients to please everyone at our table.
If I were in Edmonton again, I would certainly return. Maybe next time I would leave the toddler behind and take my husband so we could relax and enjoy it a bit more!
