My biggest complaint was the uncomfortable fold out couch which my husband and I tried to sleep on. When I made the reservations, I was assured that the queen fold-out couch was comfortable and of a better (commercial) quality than those found in the average home. It was not better and my husband and I finally ended up sleeping on the floor on the mattress from the couch. The management did try to fix the problem by letting us move rooms to try another couch, but the quality was the same. We told the staff on several more occaisions that the couch was very uncomfortable and asked if it was possible to have another queen bed brought into the room to replace the couch, but were told that it was not possible. One hotel employee replied laughingly, that other people had slept on these couches for extended periods (months) without complaint.

Aside from this main issue, the hotel was somewhat below average. It was not very clean... I don't think the hallway carpets were vacuumed while we were there (6 days).

The pool was very cool and on one day there was a banquet buffet table set up in the hallway outside the pool area. There was no way of avoiding this area when exiting the pool area, and had to squeeze by the buffet table and the guests. This was uncomfortable for hotel guests using the pool and for the formally dressed banquet attendees.

We booked in for two nights and ended up staying for five!! Our child became ill on our second night in Edmonton so we needed to stay at least an extra night. The room we were in was already booked that night but the hotel staff were very accommodating in getting us another suite right across the hall. They also let us stay in our current room until the suite across the hall was ready even though check out time had come and gone.

Laundry room had a broken dryer but the hotel staff checked with the hotel across the street (same owner) and they had machines available so we were able to go there and do laundry.

We liked it so much here that we changed our plans and decided to stay two more nights and enjoy more sites in Edmonton. We were fortunate that the suite we were in was available so we didn't have to move again. We would definitely recommend staying in the suites at this hotel. They are completely outfitted (hairdryer, iron and ironing board, fridge, microwave, stove, dishwasher, cutlery, plates, glasses).

A great experience and very convenient to get to West Edmonton Mall.

We were a family of 4 adults on a tour of Western Canada by hire car and we wanted to stay at West Edmonton at the end of our 2 weeks solely to do some shopping and sightseeing at the West Edmonton Mall before flying back via Toronto to the UK. I booked through Expedia.

First challenge was finding the place. In the end I had to stop at a general store and buy a street map and even then it was not too easy because of the one-way system.

On arrival there was plenty of parking. Sadly this was one of the very few places on our long journey through ever-friendly Canada where customer service was completely lacking; it was as is the reception staff could not have cared less. For example, I asked for a guide to the West Edmonton Mall and the staff would not help me. In the end I walked over to the Holiday Inn opposite and the contrast was stark; they could not have been more helpful despite the fact I was not one of their guests.

The rooms were fine and reasonable value for money. They were a fair size, had comfy beds, the usual coffee maker and a big TV with lots of cable channels. We chose to eat out both nights - there are lots of family restaurants within easy walking distance. There was also some all-male convention staying in the Inn and we had to put up with other fairly drunk guests in the lift. I would advise that you should not try to walk to the West Edmonton Mall; the distance does not look far on the map but the route is not very pedestrian friendly and the roads are very busy. We drove and there is masses of parking at the Mall.

When we came to check our early morning en route to the airport we could not initially find anyone on reception. If ever we go back to West Edmonton we will be trying the Holiday Inn instead, or staying at one of the hotels in the Mall.

We stayed at this hotel March 15-19 2006. I have to say we were very disappointed. When we arrived we literally had to remake the bed, it looked as though it had already been slept in. The mattress pad was all bunched up under the sheet. I did mention this to the front desk the next morning and when we arrived back at the hotel in the evening we had to remake the bed again. Also the bed was in terrible condition, it sagged in the middle, I don't think this should happen when a hotel is only 2 years old.
The one review about no water is pretty close to being correct. The water pressure is terrible, the shower trickles.
We won't stay here again.
