We stayed for one night in December 2013 and our room was FREEZING cold. We were assured the boiler system was working properly however our room was ~13degC. Cold air pours in through exterior wall outlets, closed windows and covered AC unit. We were given a tiny portable heater that was not sufficient enough to heat the suite. The hotel staff told us that because the temperature was so cold outside (and it was) that was the problem. The problem with that statement is that we get extremely cold temperatures ALL THE TIME... So in these days the hotel patrons will freeze???!!!
Totally unacceptable and ridiculous experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for that reason.
Oh and the hotel advised that their solution to the problem was to purchase several portable (tiny) heaters to give to guests who required them...seriously.

Stayed at the hotel while our daughter had surgery at the Stollery Hospital. The service, location and amenities were great. My only complaint is that the medical rate for families who are tending to sick relatives at the hospital is still very high. In fact, the rate for government emplyees is lower than the medical rate! Families are often staying for weeks at a time and it can become very costly. It would be a small percentage of guests who would qualify for this and it would not affect the hotel's bottom line but would make a huge difference for families.

We were very pleased with all the staff at this Hotel. So friendly from booking in and checking out. Our room was very clean! Not knowing the Butterdome Craft Show was going on was a added bonus. Walking distance, but too cold for the Family to walk so a quick cab ride was used.
The reason for our stay was for the Stollery, and it was so nice and close.
Our Family stayed in a very positive, clean Hotel with a maid that had a smile that brightened our stay!

Room Tip: For staying for a couple of days the kitchen really came in handy for the whole family.

I work as a cancer researcher at U of Alberta and had an experiment where I needed to take readings every 4 hours for 48 hours. I decided that since my lab is only 200 metres from the hotel, I don't have a vehicle, and transit doesn't run all night I would get a room at the Tower and nip over every 4 hours for my read.

The lobby is good-sized, modern and welcoming, but the clerk advised me she couldn't check me in with my Visa debit card, it had to be a credit card. After several minutes of explaining to her it works like a Visa she finally agreed to try and get verbal authorisation from Visa. Unfortunately she couldn't figure out what their merchant id is and she continued to maintain that she couldn't check me in (at this point it was already 10 pm).

I decided the heck with it, I'll go sleep at my desk and told her "well never mind but don't charge me like I never showed up for my guaranteed booking." She responded, "Sorry but if you don't check in we have to charge the card you used for a guarantee."

So I convinced her to just charge the card like I didn't show and give me a key!

When I got to the room it was large, clean, decent linens and a nice terry robe. Unfortunately, the hallway is narrow, the doors are thin, and I heard everyone as they walked down the hall talking. So it isn't the quietest place even though no one was partying. It is also across the street from the university hospital so I heard every ambulance as they raced to the ER.

So, if you need to be literally "at campus" and are a heavy sleeper then have a go, it is a decent facility.

Room Tip: Get a room at the end of the hall, they may be quieter since fewer people will be in the vicinity.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The staff is very polite and helpful. The room are spacious and inviting. There is nothing I can say that could be in anyway negative. The exercise room is really a very pleasant place, it is welcoming and well equipped. I was not at the pool. The Earl's restaurant that is down stairs is a wonderful place to dine. The staff are all very friendly, and the food is great.

We thank all of the staff.

Room Tip: We have stayed here every year for the CFR, and have never been disappointed. There is not a bad roo...
