“Night out at the Dinner Theatre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2014

For Christmas, we got a set of tickets to the hotel's attached dinner theatre for ourselves and my out-of-town parents. Rather than having them drive back out to their acreage and to maximize our time with them, we decided to spend the night at the DoubleTree. The Hotel has recently under gone a major renovation and is absolutely beautiful inside. The decor is very up-to-date, and the photos on the walls are up-close snap shots of various Edmonton landmarks and add a nice local touch to the decor.

Right from check-in the staff were courteous, pleasant, and very accommodating. My parents have been living in an RV while waiting for possession of their new house. My mother has been missing the ability to have a bath because of this, and asked the hotel to ensure that their room had a bath tub (many of the hotel's rooms just have a large shower after the renovations - perfect for most travelers, but not all). The hotel staff were very accommodating and actually upgraded both them, and my wife and I, to a full-sized "king suite" with out extra charge in order to ensure that they could meet the desire.

For out-of-town travelers, one of the complaints of previous reviewers is that the hotel is a little out of the way, but as Edmonton is a car-oriented city, this really is not an issue. The hotel is close to a lot of major roads (without bad road noise), so getting to all the major attractions is quite easy - West Edmonton Mall is a short drive away, and downtown is only a little further.

Room Tip: If you want/need a bath tub in your room instead of a large shower, make sure you make the request a...

It's nice of you to review our property as so outlining all of our amenities including the Dinner Theatre. It just feels so delighting to read such wonderful comments about the property. We have a new show now in Dinner Theatre "Hair Spray", you should visit us soon and give us a chance to serve and exceed your expectations once again.

The hotel is located just minutes from Edmonton West Mall, offering more than 800 stores and entertainment opportunities including an amusement park, waterpark, a casino, bowling and much more. Take the children for an educational day out to the Telus World of science; there are lots of attractions to enjoy.

We sincerely appreciate your loyalty and that we'll be your destination of choice upon your next visit to our city.

Thank you.

We were initially very pleased with the hotel. Upon arrival the hotel offered us a free upgrade to a king suite. The suite was clean, with all amenities and we never had a noise issue. The staff were also very friendly.

Problems started when we decided to dine at the hotel restaurant for Valentines day since we heard good things and we didn't feel like the drive to another place. The food was decent enough, however we constantly struggled to get the attention of our waitress and it took almost 20 minutes to get our bill, even though the restaurant was mostly empty. There were also several errors on our bill.
At home we found that almost $100 of room service purchases were added to our bill, even though we never ordered anything. After two phone calls the staff resolved the issue, but I'd check my bill if we stayed here again.

Room Tip: Check you restaurant and room bills before you pay!

Hated the walking distance stores. Construction will finish this year making it better. The view to the east was great of down town Edmonton. ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ And this sucks to have to write for this long just to make everyone feel good or bad about this hotel that is actually OK just not anything to write home about if you know what i mean.

Hilton took this property over and redid the site, was very nicely redone, great location and very friendly staff. Great for business travelers and has a great Internet connection, rest and lounge on site, close to West Ed Mall and quick access to main roads for getting around Edmonton

We stayed here, part of the STAY program for a hockey tournament, location was ok, not a lot of restaurants in immediate area. Received an email from hotel , 2 days prior to arrival saying that the pool would be ready, didn't know the pool was going to be an issue, upon check in, no pool, did receive vouchers for what I was told was "local YMCA 5 minutes away" not 5 mintues aways try 15-20 minutes away. You could tell it was recently renovated, as there was dry wall dust , and film everywhere. Night manager (Midge) came to 5th floor, and told one of our to control our kids that were playing mini sticks and were being loud in hallway, problem was, all our kids were indeed in bed, on the 4rth floor, and it was another hockey team, and told her as much. I was taking the stair well in between the 4rth and fifth floor as the elevator was really slow or really busy, and the night manager told me then that she was going to lock all the stair well entrances because a soccer team was running up and down them, I don't even know if that following fire code is it???? Breakfast buffet was phenomenal, something for everyone, room was spacious, beds were good. warm cookies and milk at night was a nice touch. Just feel that they tricked us into staying here, because if we knew the ool was out, we would have stayed elsewhere.

Room Tip: ask to make sure the pool is running.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to share your comments.

It was very pleasing to hear you enjoyed your stay. I was not sure of your comment regarding our property having the pool closed during your stay, we ensured the conveners were aware of pool closure and haven been compensated accordingly due to the inconvenience. We had our state of the art Precor fitness center open for guests and also have the one of the best attractions Edmonton has to offer The Mayfield Dinner Theatre.

I do apologize sincerely for the pool still not being open during your stay, as an alternative we have provided guests YMCA passes for all the days of their stay. I would be pleased to speak to you further so I could have some clarification. Please contact me directly at the hotel at your earliest convenience.

We do hope to welcome you back to The Double Tree by Hilton Edmonton in the near future.

We've been fortunate and always stayed in tower 2. This trip we were offered a free upgrade to a king suite. Two great days and nights in a very quiet very comfortable suite. Spacious, clean and well-appointed. All the amenities and great service at check-in, bar and breakfast. Even on a weekend when they were aswarm with boys' sports teams.

We stayed at this hotel from March 27th to March 29th 2014 for a hockey tournament for my 11 yo son. We are a family of four.

Location: Perfect location if you want to go at West Edmonton Mall.

Rooms: We stayed in the new tour and there are really nice rooms. The mettresses were excellent, the coration up-to-date, the washroom big and nice and the insonorization was perfect.

Personnel: Personnel of the hotel are fun and really professional. My son has been sick and threw out on the bed and on the carpet. I went to the front desk and they send us someone to clean all this. The guy arrived in less than 2 minutes.

Hotel bar: The place is nicely decorated and the ambiance is fun. Price for the wine is a little bit high but they have a nice choice.

Pool: The pool was not open during our stay and this was not fun. We selected this hotel because of the swimming pool and when we made the reservation, the hotel staff certified us that the pool renovation would be done and the pool open. We received two tickets for the Waterpark at West Edmonton Mall.

Room Tip: Rooms in the new tour are quiet!
