“Overpriced, but convenient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Stayed here one night on the September long weekend after always hearing the hype about this hotel and to treat the kids. The front entrance from the parking lot was very dissappointing, definately not one would expect arriving at a hotel of this price point and the amount of smokers outside the front door including hotel staff was nausiating.

The lobby staff were expeditious and pleasant. We arrived early to pick up our galaxyland passes and was told our room was guaranteed by 4 pm and was surprised to get a call at 10:30 saying it was ready. When we went back and got our keys it was nice to find the Bellman had already placed our jackets in the room that we had checked earlier.

We opted for the Polynesion theme room. The room was adequate but had a worn and somewhat dated feel, definately not what you would expect for $300.00 + per night. Although I suppose some of what you are paying for is the "theme" which the kids liked especially the jacuzzi tub with waterfall. The bed was comfortable and the view was great. Also the conveniance factor having the mall at your doorstep is definately a plus.

The bathroom was dissappointing with crusty hard water deposits all around the shower, dirty grout in the tiles and low quality towels. It felt like you were in a $50.00 /night hotel when in the bathroom.

Now that I have "been there done that" most likely would not go back and opt to stay at one of the high end chain hotels down the road for half the cost, better quality, and oh yeah: free WiFi! C'mon guys, it's 2012, charging almost $10 per day for WiFi is not cool!

we have stayed at fantasyland hotel twice. both different experiences.
1st experience - my husband brought me here as a romantic getaway. we stayed in the polynesian room. it was very nice. we loved the huge jacuzzi. some things, like the furniture, were a bit dated and could use some refreshing. i feel that $300/night is very steep for what it is. we happened to get a fire alarm at 7:30 am and announcements to stay in our room. we weren't concerned until water came through the ceiling in the shower. we decided to pack up and leave. check out was a zoo (understandable). thankfully, we were able to get our room 1/2 off due to the circumstances. a waterline had busted 2 floors above us and caused lots of damage.
2nd experience - my bosses reserved us rooms here to stay after our christmas party. we were put into a regular suite. it was new and modern (obviously renovated compared to the theme rooms). but, we had a terrible night's sleep! we were directly above the bar with contant loud thumping music. we called to complain but the front desk (instead of offering us another room) told us simply that it would end at 1 am!
i feel that the front desk area and hallways are getting old/rundown and need upgrading.

Not sure we’ll stay again. Asked for an early checkin. Check is guaranteed by 4. At 3:30 went back to see if room was ready to find out they called our Saskatchewan number at home to let us know to come to check in (not our cell that they asked for). Changed our room as per our request to the Front Desk manager. Annoyed that only received 1 gadget for free for internet. additional phone would have been $8.95/day. Seemed a bit of a rip off. It was convenient for hubby to have a snooze while I shopped.
Nice to get park passes for $20.50/person

Room Tip: Don’t bother for theme room (Polynesian) we originally wanted a them room and looked at it to find t...

The Fantasyland Hotel has many attributes from theme rooms to being located in one of the most enjoyable (if anyone can relate to an enjoyable mall, not my favourite places) Malls in North America. The most outstanding thing for our Family was the absolute proffessional accommodating nature of the staff at this hotel. The individual that checked us in "Tahah" I think his name was, was very accommodating, our room did not appear ready at the 4 p.m. check in time so he added on admission to the Waterpark or Galaxyland for four as well as an in room pizza party. Would we have taken part in these amenities, yes we would but to have him give them to us gratis only because our room wasn't ready was unexpected. The room itself was exceptional, it was large and roomy and very comfortable, I haven't seen any of the them rooms but I am sure as a conventional room it would rival any of them! Fortunately due to the stormy weather we enjoyed every inch of the Mall with its very good shops and the Amusemnet parks along with the many restaurants. I would recommend this Hotel and mall to anyone and again I am not a fan of Malls in general.

Room Tip: Ask for the two queens with a sitting area, our rate was 288/night and worth it. Oh yeah it had a ve...

lots to say about this place save your 450$ a night for theme room for your kids they cant have a bath or no one can even talk past 10 oclock! all the kids wanted was a jacuzzi no one was being loud i was talking to my mom on the phone security harassed us two times so i made the decision to leave at midnite to avoid further hatassment and previous to that we found barbie doll clothes in the room not ours! and the food on in room dining trays filled with lefover eggs sat in the hallway for 13 hrs the day before and had a lineup of lots of people at midnite complaining about multiple things save your money go sumwhere else it is absolutly not worth it!!

We stayed in 2 theme rooms in this hotel and they were exceptional. The first room we stayed in was the Polynesian room. This room had a large, deep hot tub and an interestingly shaped yet comfortable bed. The second room we stayed in was the Truck room. This room had an even larger tub, however the bed was difficult to get onto. While we did not have any issues with it, it could be difficult for those with mobility issues. While the rooms were mainly clean, we did need to get the sheets replaced upon checking in as there were hairs on it. The cleaning staff were courteous and friendly and replaced the sheets immediately. The hotel is in a good location for shopping in the West Edmonton Mall. the downsides to this hotel are that it doesn't include complimentary internet and if you come at a busy time finding parking can be a nightmare.

Room Tip: Hollywood room has a glass wall around the toilet. Don't expect any privacy.

First time staying at the Fantasyland Hotel. We stayed in a Superior Room with Bunk Beds. Room was very clean, the staff were "fantastic". Enjoyed the Wave Pool/Galaxyland, and the
convenience of being in the "mall" Would stay here again!!
