“Relaxing Stay With an Awesome View!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I am reading a lot of reviews about this hotel being very dated and needing a face lift, but in my opinion the hotel is full of character and history. The room was clean, the bed was comfy and the staff were efficient and friendly. All of the restaurants and the lounge have great views of Edmonton's river valley and the hotel is within walking distance to all amenities and venues on Jasper Ave. The one downside that we experienced was the hallway noise. We were in a room near the elevators and could here every conversation and every time a door shut nearby. All in all it was a great stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

This is my first stay at Chateau Lacombe, and I decided to upgrade to the concierge floor. Hotel room is nice, but compared to other concierge lounges that I've been in, this is pretty lame. You're limited to 2 glasses of wine, and they are tiny glasses. The server isn't around often to take orders either. The canapés consist of an unidentified mixture of something, a shrimp in fruit salsa, and a cold spring roll. In contrast, the Sheraton at Au Claire Market in Calgary had amazing appetizers, no limit on glasses of wine, and an amazing breakfast. Lounges in Shanghai and Hong Kong also amazing. This lounge? Wouldn't do it a second time.

The place is a bit dated with elevators that look like they have been in use since the 1960's. Front desk was very efficient though and pleasant. They are working on the rooms (new windows). My room had a nice King bed, small TV with movies (I like to watch movies when I travel even though they have gotten really expensive). The desk has a couple of electrical plugs so that is handy. Washroom is fairly typical size and looked ok except the tub appeared to have been painted at some point and it was rubbing off.
Location is very handy to downtown so I did not need a car.

Room Tip: It is a circular building so avoid the elevator rooms as I imagine they could get noisy (lowest and...

It was an ok stay overall. The staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable. We stayed for 3 nights, not expecting to pay over $15 a night for parking! Upon arrival we were promised a room with a newer bathroom, but we actually got a bathroom with a tub that had the paint chipped everywhere. The bathroom did not have a fan, which made the bathroom steam up for periods of time and apparently showering with the door open could cause the Fire alarm to sound. We were woken up at 8am one morning due to renovations in the room next to ours, very very loud. Over priced breakfast, over $60 for 2 breakfast's and 2 glasses or drink. Also, if you plan on relaxing during the night with snacks, you have to get them before hand at a corner store because the hotel does not supply this. We will not be staying here again.

We stayed late Feb, booked via Expidia...always effortless. Easy check-in, after navigating the expensive parking, vehicles in 1990 were lower to the ground, our truck was just fitted.... Our first basic room, though quite decent has some unwelcome anatomical remnants on the bathroom floor. I phoned downstairs, within minutes Joel arrived with a profound apology and keys to our new concierge, upgraded room on the 19th.
The room was much nicer, and we were very happy. Bed... comfy, nice bathroom.
The upgrade allowed for snacks and cocktails on the 20th, quite the ordeal getting up there. Not really cocktails and a few snacks....... OK.
Dinner downstairs was OK, basic food, with a basic plus price! Thanks to Brittany, a great server
Again, concierge allowed for a built in breakfast, not to bad, some meat, cold eggs, cereal, fruit..... you get the picture.... however, no real tables to eat off, eat off your lap, very strange......
Not a bad stay and the Oilers beat Boston, first time since time in decades...
All in all OK..... good come back on the upgrade, quiet, good view, sour taste on the parking charge, heck we are staying there, and they charge an extra $15..... GOUGE!
Will we return.........????? Don't thinks so..

Room Tip: Anything much over a basic half ton won't get you in the pay for parking.

No parking included in the price was not a nice surprise upon check in. Then, we were disappointed at how small the room was. Very small bathroom. The view was not very nice. We enjoyed the restaurant's view way better, but we couldn't eat anything as they didn't have any allergy friendly food. Anyway, looking at the menu, everything seemed overpriced.

We were awaken many times during the night because of partier, then after multiple calls to the front desk, we were offer to change floor and go to their "quiet" floor. At 3am, we were exhausted, but we needed to get some sleep.

Not a great experience, not the worse we had neither. I think we had high expectations because of the name and the price of the room, which ultimately made us disappointed.

I don't know of any hotels this day and age where you have to ask to have a mini fridge brought to your room at a cost of $25... Oh wait then if you need a microwave it's also $25 to heat up your $5 food. The rooms are outdated and nothing works.. For the pice you pay it isn't worth it because of this I won't be staying here again. Staying 6 days and can't even keep for or drinks cold. No thanks I will find a new hotel that's uptodate!
