“Needs some renovations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

The hotel needs a handy man(woman) to go in and fix up some of the past renovations that are falling apart. Example, the enamel coating is coming off the bathtub in many places, looks like a bathtub you would expect in a run down hotel. I was on the 15th floor and I could hear noise from the guy shoveling snow outside. Not the quietest place. On a good note, the wifi was pretty decent.

“Overpriced and underwhelmed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We paid $300 for a suite on the 20th floor. Check in was PAINFULLY slow. The line up was long, the front desk people were on the phone and it took 35 minutes to get checked in. I don't call that $300 service. The room was nice enough, but nothing spectacular. There is no door separating the "bedroom" from the living area, so there was zero privacy for changing, etc., unless you went to the bathroom to do so. We went to the restaurant for brunch. Was just okay. Not really okay for the price. I have had better free continentals at ramadas in Alberta. We had to fight to get our brunch tickets that were supposed to have been included with our room and then they sent us back and forth from the front desk to the restaurant 3 times (all to save $40 on a meal where I ate very little).

Overall, we pretty much felt ripped off and will likely never stay at this hotel again.

“Needs updating big time!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012 via mobile

We stayed on the executive level which should have had amenities such as: bath robes, updated rooms, etc. we had a basic room on the executive floor, which we paid more to stay on that floor! We would not stay here again, there are much nicer hotels in downtown Edmonton.

“Above and Beyond the Call of Duty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

I stayed at the Crown Plaza, Chateau Lacombe, in Edmonton for meetings recently and had my small dog with me. Since the temperature was below zero, I requested a late check out time so I could leave my dog in the room. The staff checked with the manager who advised them that I could do a late checkout for a couple of hours past the usual checkout. I explained the reason for the request and the front desk personnel went again to explain the dog/cold issue to the Manager. Much to my surprise, the Manager came out and volunteered to keep my dog in a kennel in his office until my meetings were complete. Wow - talk about great customer service -- this certainly was above and beyond!

When I returned to pick up my dog, the Manager and his staff all came out to say good-bye and asked if they could keep my dog! I am so impressed that I had to share this amazing story!

Here's to the great people that don't mind doing that little bit extra - just to help someone out!

“nice room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

The rooms are very nice and spacious. The rooms are upscale and they have a wonderful staff working for them. I found the comforts of home in the room. The beds are extremley comfortable and I could like to lie in them all day. This was a very worth well place to stay. The food at the restaurant was very good and I enjoyed all of it. I would recommend any one staying in Edmonton to use the Crown Plaza.
