My husband and I had a few drinks on Whyte Avenue and then decided to eat at Origin India. We were greeted and seated quickly and had our drinks served so we could mull over the menu. The waiter also made some suggestions while we ordered and was very helpful in explaining the ingredients. We ordered a bhuna, a vindaloo and aloo gobi. The garlic naan was fresh and very tasty and a great side. You get rice with the main curry meals so don't order that unless you like the special rice. The food was very tasty, fresh ingredients, great presentation. We ordered the Vindaloo at the spicy option and everything else medium. It is great you get the option. I am from England where Vindaloo as standard is very spicy so getting this spicy option for me, was medium. Either way, the meal was a very high quality and we enjoyed it very much. The buffet selection seemed popular to people coming in on a snowy evening. There were a good choice of mains and sides and I would certainly give it a try sometime. The kitchen overlooks the buffet and they seemed on top of making sure it was presentable and stocked. The decor is modern and the facilities clean and well kept. We enjoyed a great ambiance although this was slighted a little when the live band from the pub directly above the restaurant started. It did not spoil anything for us but it was noticeable! We will be back to this restaurant, situated in the middle of Whyte Avenue which is very pretty this time of year!
