I've only been to two different locations for Tony Roma's this one was very different from the other (in Banff). There were only 2 other occupied tables at 9pm on a Tuesday so it was very quiet, on my first visit to this location for a weekend lunch it was very quiet. It's difficult to comment on the atmosphere of the restaurant when it's empty. The staff were very polite and the service was good.
The food wasn't what I expected, the portions are made up of generous sides, so don't expect the steak (or the combination of 2 Fillet Mignon and a 1/4 bbq chicken) to take up most of the plate. The meat wasn't cooked to medium, it was medium-rare, which is fine but others would be disappointed. The Fillet Mignon was tiny, there's more meat in a double cheeseburger than there is in a single fillet. The gravy drizzled over them ruined the flavour, it had the same quality taste as a cheap (& very salty) gravy mix. The chicken was good, the sauce could have been more exciting, the slaw and sweet potato fries were also good (but those are hard to screw up).
It's a nice restaurant with decent food and friendly service but given the reputation of the chain the food could be better.
