“Not as good as it used to be”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Peter's is a Calgary icon. What's good. the shakes are still the best you can buy and the selection of flavours is beyond comparison. The size.of the frys and onion rings is still bounteous, the burgers although the same, a single is still a patty and a half but they now tastes like a MacDonald burger.

“The Best Drive In in Southern Alberta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

It is a must stop when we are traveling in the Calgary region. The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. They have the best milkshakes I have ever had.

“Really neat place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

The smoothies and renowned oversize portions are definitely the main attraction! I always love going there and will be visiting again soon! :)

“A Name that Doesn't Really Deliver, except the Shakes!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Peter's has been a forever Calgary drive-in phenomenon, and despite the so-so burger quality it's occasionally fun to drive across town for a Peter's burger. Invariably, after having done so, I ask myself why bother? Here's why....

First, the shakes are big, and with over a thousand iterations of flavor combinations they're a worthwhile purchase. The mixture is so thick you'll have a difficult time getting it through the straw, and therein lies the challenge. So, great shakes from a burger joint.

Second, when you order a 'single' burger, you get 1 and a half patties... they've been doing it that way forever. So, the single burger makes you feel like you got a deal.

Beyond that, the burger is just.... a saucy, production-line meatish product on a less-than-fresh bun that is filling.

Cash only, drive through, and an adjacent parking lot with picnic tables where you can feed a crow or two while enjoying a burger and shake from of one of Calgary's best known drive-in burger joints.

“Best Shakes in Calgary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Great cheeseburgers when order with just sauce. My preference since not fond of onions or relish on my burger. I wish the cheese would go back to the slices variety instead of cheddar so it is melted on my burger. But otherwise great burger since get a paddy and a half for a single, 2.5 for a double and never was hungry enough to order a triple so cannot comment on it.

Note to remember - CASH ONLY, sauce is a mild BBQ sauce, they do not put ketchup on the burger.

The fries come in 2 sizes small or large - the small fry feeds a family of 5 or 3 (when teenagers in the family) . I prefer to order original fries and not the new style (they taste better)

The milk shakes are so thick you have to wait 5 minutes for them to thaw enough to get up the straw. The flavors are too many to count and you can have up to 3 different ones within the same shake. Personal favorites are strawberry or raspberry (they use real fruit and often get stuck at base of the straw) and no added coloring.
