“Outstanding and relaxed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

My wife and I stumbled on this little place and enjoyed it. We decided to go back and once again we enjoyed the food and overall experience. Yes, it is small and yes perhaps a pickle should be standard. But it is unique for Calgary and absolutely tasty! The service is laid back but exactly what it should be for a small diner like this. They have me coming back for their fresh food and relaxed feel.

“Montreal Comes To Calgary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Excellent Montreal Smoked Meat from the same company that provides many Montreal delis. It has to have the right fat consistency or it's not Montreal Smoked. Had the Montreal Classic. 6oz sandwich on a light rye (dark rye is for pastrami), grainy dijon mustard and the side of coleslaw (vinegar-based but one of the better ones I've had). Didn't quibble about the lack of a pickle - but it could be added - besides if you're going to call it a Montreal Classic, it had better come with a pickle - classic Montreal style. Wife had the same with chips (potato chips not fries - delis don't have deep-fryers).

Lots of parking on-street and 2 blocks off of 17th Ave. Funky spot. Excellent smoked meat. Will be back. Limited menu but I think that a limited menu gives a place a chance to be really good at a few things instead of being mediocre at a lot of things. These guys are really good about a few things.

“VERY DISSAPPOINTED! OVERPRICED & NOT EVEN A PICKLE?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

So I decided to give this place a try. The smoked meat is not bad at all but overpriced. Apparently smoked straight from Montreal. 2 young unprofessional young guys running the place & very unfriendly nor properly answer your questions and were to busy watching tv and talking about sports & their tax returns etc..they didnt seem to care for my business. The Montreal Classic(ONLY 6oz portion!!) is a whopping ridiculous price of $10.75. They dont even mention the $10 special when you walk in. Youre much better off getting the Small cut which is only $7.25.. They are charging $3.50 MORE for just for basic cheese lettuce tomato red onion which is ridiculous. They also have the GULL not to even include at least 1 kosher pickle on the side. How could you make this optional? And if you order chips youd think youre getting fries but instead 3 pcs of potato chips. The PICKLE is ALWAYS standard at ANY DELI. It shows how cheap the owner is. DUHH! Optional side are EITHER chips, coleslaw, or Pickle which is quite ridiculous. You should include the PICKLE no matter what. The place looks very tired and too small just like their parent GAlaxy diner next door. Galaxy diner is also very overpriced and way too small. And when you order extra potato fries on the side because its free no charge they dont even cook it properly and doesnt taste like the orginal that comes initially.

“This restaurant has been renamed, it is Myhre's Deli”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

I agree 100% with the reviewer who wrote that everything is fantastic except for the rye bread. Why can't any deli in Calgary get the right rye bread?

Myhre's now serves bottled beer.

The service is very casual of course but it is pleasant and fits in with the super-casual atmosphere.
