This is the best nature walk in Calgary. It is open year round from dawn to dusk and depending on the time of year different birds and animals can be viewed. Some of the highlights for me are great horned owls, tundra swans, pileated woodpeckers, and many others. Visit in the spring for warbler season and to see deer fawns and pick up the guide in the visitor's center that highlights all of the permanent and seasonal residents in the park (I think it costs a dollar or two for the booklet). There is a daily log book in the visitor's center to keep track of your positive IDs; scribble something on the way out or check it out before you start so you know what to look for. This is one of my favourite places in the city, be sure not to miss it!
