“Fantastic food and fantastic service...great find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

While it doesn't look like much from the outside, this restaurant is a tremendous find, tucked away in the parking lot of a giant power centre.

Food was delicious, staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was quite pleasant. Food arrived quickly and the servers were more than accommodating, even making a special customized meal on request for a member of our group that didn't eat any meat or any meat products.

The staff was very proud to serve us their traditional Peruvian cuisine and their recommendations were spot on. I'd go back in a heartbeat to try some more of that deliciousness.

“Great Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2013

We were looking for something different and my mom convinced us all to meet here for dinner. We made reservations in advance as there were seven of us. The servers could not have been more helpful or positive. It made the evening wonderful. The food was defiantly different but we all enjoyed our meal. The seating area is on the small side but the décor (including the front entrance) showed that they made the most of the space they had. I will be back!

“ok food, terrible loud music”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

This should have been a 3 1/2 star review. We had dinner there last night. The chicken was moist and tender, quite flavorful, and cooked just enough. My lomo saltado was less memorable...tender enough, but overcooked meat and mushy vegetables. The fruit drinks were good, the tamal was tasty, although it had very little filling. The potato slices with the huancaina sauce were adequate, but seriously overpriced considering that the dish consists of a very few slices of potato with a cheesey sauce on top.
All in all, it was a decent dinner with fresh food and good service. So why the poor rating?
The music. All through the meal our ears and brains were assaulted with loud, monotonous, thumping dance music....sort of a Latin-tinged Gangnam Style. This aggressive, frenetic style has one purpose in my estimation...to dance to until you can't dance no mo'. I mentioned this to our server. She said that their regulars LOVED this music. None of the other patrons seemed like regulars, and no one was dancing. I suspect that, as in many other restaurants, the music reflects the taste of the staff and their friends, and not of the target clientele.
This place should either install some strobe lights and a dance floor and be what it sounds like, or play some interesting Peruvian and/or S. American music as a background to a good meal. Anything...musica andina, cumbia , lando, vallenato pop...anything would be preferable to an hour plus of adrenalin-drenched boom boom boom boom boom boom..ad infinitum, ad nauseum. We won't be back. It's a shame.

“Wonderful find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

Found this great restaurant while searching by "location". It is within walking distance of the Four Points/Sheraton (Sunridge Way NE) AND near the rental car drop off. Having visited Peru a few years back, we were eager to give the restaurant "a try".

Excellent... in all regards. Friendly, efficient service and best of all... DELICIOUS FOOD! Both of us had the rotisserie chicken "Pio", one served with/con "Tacu Tacu" (rice & white beans), the other con "Platano Frito" (SWEET plantains w/feta) Both wonderful. Tried the Jugo de Maracuya (Passion Fruit beverage) and a piece of the Crema Volteada --- yum, yum. The chicken is to die for!

“Great food at reasonable price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

Having previously thought this was a Pho (Vietnamise Soup) restaurant we did not go until we realized it was Pio. Glad we finally figured it out. Food is fresh and very tasty. Had the chicken and sausage combo. Chicken was perfectly done (some rotissiere restaurants under cook it) and nicely seasoned, fries were great, and both the mayonaise and mint (it actually tastes similar but is not mint) sauces were great dipping additions. Prices respresent good value. While chicken is their specialty, I am looking forward to trying other items on the menu. Wait staff are Peruvian (probably all family) and know how to describe unfamiliar items on the menu. They will even bring a tablet computer to your table to show pictures of what you might be considering.
