Awesome location, cool staff, solid living conditions. Solid place to stay and friendly staff, I would stay here again for sure. Close to all amenities, saddledome, c train, and other things. I recommend to anyone looking to save a few bucks, or to anyone who is new to calgary and wants to meet ppl

HI provided some of the best customer service I've ever seen. The staff are engaging and hilarious which makes me feel like I'm at home, even though it's a million miles away. Free breakfast every morning is a big plus. The atmosphere here is wonderful. It's the perfect spot for people travelling alone as we're like one big family here.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the HI and would recommend it to everyone.

From Toronto and having to stay at this location while I save up enough money for a place I can definitely say a few thing about H.I. Calgary City Centre, say a few things indeed. It is cheap. I am not talking about your quality of stay, I am talking about price, probably the cheapest in city. It is annoying. Every time I get home from a long day, either at work or play, I am greeted by the people I have met from Argentina to United Kingdom to either join them for supper or a night out. If you haven`t figured it out yet, I am trying to do the whole sarcastic witticism, but I am surely failing as I am running out of space and time. It`s a great to stay, having met lots of different people from different countries I was bitten with the travelling bug, and there are no vaccinations. Definitely a place that would keep your enthusiasm and spirit up for travel. The amenities meets and exceeds any preconceptions you may have of hostels and the staff tries and succeeds in ensuring that you do enjoy your stay. I would say the rest is up to you.

Room Tip: If you can, get the beds that are even numbered. You will thank me for it.

The newly renovated facility is fresh and clean. I think the family units are ideal for a night or two as everyone can have a bed. The train is about a block away and is even free to ride in the downtown zone. What a deal with free parking, free breakfast, free WIFI and downtown location. The river pathway is nearby as are historical sites and the zoo. All linens are included and the big kitchen lets you cook your own meals. Then add the socializing and there is something for everyone for as little as the cost of parking at the big hotel down the street.

Room Tip: Private rooms are mainly on lower level with a family unit on the second floor.

This hostel was very clean and quiet. Had a great location right beside the tram which is free in downtown Calgary. Staff was not very friendly but over all good stay! Wouldn't stay here if you are traveling solo, it is hard to meet people in this hostel!

After traveling Canada for more than 3 weeks and over 9,000 KM we were looking forward to fell asleep in cozy bed and not the car-seat or a tent. This hostel is clean, welcoming and it's close to the city center (max 5 min walk the C-Train or 10 min walking distance to the center itself). During the short time we stayed here, we were able meet a lot of great people. The rooms are clean and specious as well as the bathrooms (most important for me as a girl ;) ). Every morning we had a great breakfast with lots to choose from (for a hostel). First we had the feeling it is very expensive for a night, but looking back on all the things you can use and get, it's way worth the price. (for people with a car- parking is for free- yeah)
Thanks to Jason and his great team, we were able to celebrate our very first Canadian Thanksgiving- it was a feast!! So, a big THANKS for making this stay unforgettable! def gonna come back!!!

TIP: Calgary itself is not nice to look at (especially if you have been to Toronto, Vancouver etc.), but if you have the time to cross the river and go to Kensington- it's beautiful!! :)

Situated directly in the downtown, HI-Calgary is close to all the restaurants and shops on Stephen Avenue (8ave). You also have access to the C-train (free in downtown) and it’s not to far from the bicycle path across the river. It is a nice place to meet people, the staffs is very welcoming and helpful; they will give you good advice if you have any questions. It is definitely a good place to stay.
