“Fresh is best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Well, I really wanted to rave about this restaurant, however, it was good, not "wow" in my opinion. The service was good, but we opted for the $95 per person fondue experience which was okay, but not worth the price in my opinion. For the $95 you got your choice of cheese fondue, broth fondue and chocolate fondue. The cheese fondue was typical, cheese fondue with bread to dip, then you have your choice of beef or bison or combo of the two in a broth fondue . We opted for the combo of bison and beef. The meat was very fresh and served with a combo of different sauces and aeoli's which were very good and a few vegetables. The broth was not hot enough, it should have been at a nice simmer, but it wasn't, so the meat took longer to cook and was just okay. Then the chocolate fondue came. It was a toblerone fondue served with typical marshmellow, and fruit accompaniments. I was disappointed as the fondue was too watered down and thin, it just slipped off everything you dunked into it. It should have been thicker so it adhered to whatever you dunked into it. Overall it was good, but overpriced.

“Not worth it.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

My partner and I ended up at Walliser Stube when our reservation for another Chateau Lake Louise restaurant was moved there because our pick was closed that night. Walliser Stube wasn't our first choice then and it won't be in the future because of: the service (but to be fair the server did try to make up for it in the end), the wall between us and the windows, the loud children in our walled-in room (who were still there when we left at 10pm), the prices, and the dessert we ordered: black forest cake. In a restaurant that serves hearty and 'authentic' German and Swiss food, we expected a traditional black forest cake. What we got instead was a "deconstructed" black forest cake that was absurd and unsatisfying. Overall, this place needs to decide what it is: one or two dining rooms; family restaurant or adult restaurant; traditional or trendy. All of that said, my entree was delicious. If it weren't for the frustrations and annoyances that came with it, I would remember the place for a great meal.

“An expensive fondue experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013 via mobile

We went for the whole experience and we knew it was expensive ($95) per person but there was only a very small amount of meat, not enough for a man and not enough for the price. We enjoyed what we had though. The wine was outrageously expensive! Service was efficient and friendly. Don't think we'd dine here again.
