“Well Worth the Splurge!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2007

The service was outstanding and the hotel simply beautiful!

My brother and I (both in our 30s) rented a car and as such were able to pack a lot of fun activities into this trip. The first night we did the Lake Louise by Moonlight Snowshoe excursion with our guide Michael Vincent who has been with the Chateau Lake Louise for 11 years and is absoluely terrific! Not only was he very knowledgable about the area, the natural animal inhabitants in the Canadian Rockies but also an expert trail-reader. It was very, very educational and great fun!

We also did the Dog sledding excursion which was fascinating. On top of all of this we skiied both at Sunshine Village (our favorite) and Lake Louise (very busy on Saturday) and a trip into Banff for shopping (very touristy/commercial shopping).

We recommend The Post Hotel for dinner (very classy), as well as Deer Lodge. The Grizzly House (fondue) was a fun experience, but for the price/reservations absolutely required would not need to go back again.

Stayed here recently for a wedding. We were in the newer wing (towards the right as you face the hotel). Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated, and we had a great view of the lake/glacier.

Rooms in the older part of the hotel are not as nice. I saw my friend's room and the furnishings were the same, but the room itself was smaller and darker.

Big fancy hotel with great views and generally good service. Expensive. The biggest complaint is that you are effectively a captive of the hotel except for free shuttles to the ski hill. The charge for a five minute cab to the nearby village is $7 per person each way, making it prohibitive to visit good restaurants (There are several that are very good) or stores in the nearby village. There are no shuttles except to the ski hill during the day. I would not recommend staying at the Chateau unless you have your own car and even then they charge to park and recover your car for local trips.

I arranged a vacation for my parents to celebrate their anniversary at the Fairmont Lake Louise in August of 2006.

My parents were absolutely thrilled with their stay. They reported back to me that they were upgraded from a mountain view room to a lake view (no charge) and there was a basket with champagne and strawberries & chocolate to greet them in their room!

At dinner, they were congratulated again on their anniversary, and they were treated to a dessert tray after dinner, compliments of the hotel.

They pampered my parents and made them feel like royalty during their entire stay.

The location can't be beat and Lake Louise is one of the most beautiful spots you will ever find.

We decided to splash out on this hotel after a couple of days camping. Hard to believe that planning permission was given for such an imposing building on the edge of this beautiful lake, but it's worth staying here as all other accommodation is a drive away.

We were upgraded to a suite and I really can't fault it. 2 bathrooms, separate living room, jacuzzi. The fondue was great in the Swiss restaurant too.

On arrival we were asked to pay for parking which I considered OTT given the cost of the room. We parked in the public car park just outside the hotel for free!

We recently stayed at the Chateau Lake Louise with our two children. The physical location is - simply - stunning. The hotel is a graceful, impressive and very well-maintained place that hearkens back to a bygone era. The staff was a very friendly multi--national group, and very attentive. We spent the days on the slopes of the mountain, which is widely regarded as the best place to ski in the region. All in all, we had a wonderful time.

Our wonderful time did not cheaply, however. It's a statement of how nice the hotel and location are that we felt that the price was probably reasonable. We'd love to go again when we can afford to ...

This place is Beautiful beyond imagination. I look at Tripadviser all the time before selecting a vacation. This is the first time I have ever left review. We loved the resort, the staff was very friendly and helpful! The resort has a certain old world charm about it. The scenery is amazing. We had a great experience and definitely hope to return soon.
