“Love the Gold Level”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2009

Will probably always stay in the Gold Level in any future Fairmont Hotels. The service was very good, the rooms were stunning, spacious and the view over the Lake was magnificent.
We walked up the mountain to Mirror Lake and Lake Agnes worth a go but if its been snowing consider walking poles as it was getting icy on the way down.
We drove to Emerald Lake nearby, worth a view. We also had a helicopter ride at the Icefield Helicopter tours on Hway 11. Definately worth the romance special, just for two and land in between the mountains where they walk you to a waterfall where you enjoy champagne for two! Wondeful hotel and would definately return

If you want to get away from the hustle & bustle of Banff, Lake Louise is the place to stay. Often people list this as a place to stop and visit for an hour, but deserves more. Serene and beautiful, with quick access to a sedate walk around the lake or a more active climb to the tea house (worth the moderate climb, but be sure to wear stable shoes as the route is rocky and curvy, not suitable for flimsy flip flops). The room had an incredible view of the lake and was large enough for a couch and a table with four chairs, though the outside of the hotel is nothing special. The staff was friendly and helpful. There were other activities to do on and around the lake as well, to keep all sorts of folks happy with a variety of choices. We had a wonderful time

Great stay and great view. Room did not have air conditioning, and it was extremely hot. Pool and spa are a little outdated, but great to enjoy.

A very busy hotel, valet parking expensive. Consierge too busy. Fortunately we had our Hotel Reservation Voucher as they had no record of our reservation. Eventually allocated an 8th floor room with Lake View. Excellent meal in main Restaurant, Continental breakfast good.

We spent two nights here at the beginning of October and were delighted with the room and the location. When we arrived there was glorious sunshine and we were able to see the glacier and the lake in its glory. By the following morning there was a covering of snow and it continued snowing all day which meant we couldn't see the glacier. It was magical. However, I think I would have been disappointed if I had arrived the second day as I wouldn't have had the advantage of seeing the area properly. We found the staff generally very co-operative although some of the waitresses were less attentive. We ate in the lounge and in the bar. Food in the lounge was very good, less so in the bar. Our room was first class. Large with a wonderful picture window overlooking the lake. Good beds, bathroom and facilities. We loved the place!!

We travel a lot..we are NOT travel snobs. We did, however, decide to go to the Fairmount Lake Louise for 2 nights on a recent trip to Calgary. We thought a splurge would be a nice time away from the city and a romantic get-away. I reserved the DELUXE LAKEVIEW KING...the upmost option..$369 a night...no b'fast, no internet, $35 to park your car (!)..that's o.k...we thought we would sit and enjoy the view. What a disappointment. A splurge is worth it only if you feel some luxury , and a LITTLE pampering. ..we were immediately let down on both. We were ushered to a room in the new wing , in what has since been described as a Convention Wing. Big room, nicely apppointed but LAKE VIEW? HA! We were on the 4th floor , watching the tops of tour buses go by. The new wing is a long way from the Lake..with the driveway into the hotel in front of you ,as well as delivery trucks and noisy traffic, in general. Sure , the lake is out there...WAY out there. We called to see if there were a room in the old section. There was not..maybe tomorrow. Only there 2 nights.
They DID find one late the next day. We almost didn't move ,as it was a hassle, but were glad we did. LOVELY view..first floor old section. Now THAT is a LAKE VIEW! We were SO cold in there..no heat to speak of..thermostat DEAD..but ,we bundled up and were "happy" (determined).
So, do NOT go there and expect your money to buy you happiness..ain't gonna happen.
Stay somewhere else and go to The Fairmont for lunch or a drink .
BTW..we had fondue at the hotel...., a botttle of wine and one appetizer..$200.00. We had 3 Compari and soda on the bill ,as we were at the bar while we waited for a table....$14 each.
Be prepared...know what you are in for. It was so much less than what we had hoped..lesson learned.

We booked a room on the gold level overlooking lake louise and the view was absolutely breathtaking. If you stay at this hotel, ensure you get a view overlooking the lake as it is exactly like a postcard picture. The water actually looks aquamarine and is pristine. I highly recommend the gold level for their attentiveness to details to ensure you enjoy your stay. Do not dine at the Fairview Dining restaurant. I didn't get what I ordered for dinner was close to 2 hours late. The service was outrageous and were informed that there will be some changes made in the restaurant staff...we got the idea that there was an episode of Hells Kitchen going on. Although they were kind enough to remove the unordered item from our bill they did nothing about the other orders. The Gold Level concierge however were apologetic and had heard of our experience and offered to give us a little something extra. We had high tea and found the portions to be rather small. Otherwise, this hotel is quite spectacular.
