“World class location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

The location is as beautiful as it gets in the world. The lake is one of the finest picture spots in the mountains. There are great hikes around Lake Louise that take you up 1,000 metres above the lake with excellent views of glaciers, small ponds, creeks and the Lake Louise ski area. I stayed in the older section of the hotel and found the room difficult to cool down when trying to sleep. Service is great, food was excellent, room was small but the bed was comfortable and bathroom was great.

Room Tip: Request a room in a newer wing of the building to get a better sleep

For visiting Lake Louise, it's the only quality place to stay. Views of the lake are magnificent but it is a very large facility and the flow of guests and day-trippers does make it feel a bit like a railroad station. There is a wide array of restaurants scattered around this huge complex catering to a wide range of tastes and budgets.

Room Tip: Join the President's Club and book a room on the 7th floor. It costs a little more but the extra...

Recently stayed at this hotel and it was a very very pleasant experience. Had a lake view room and the view is second to none. The lake view is simply spectacular and i would highly recommend this hotel. The restaurant are really good, with wide variety of foods and cuisines. Do make sure you try alteast a couple of them. This hotel is over 100 years old and not all rooms have air conditioning, so make sure you ask for it when you make the reservation especially if visiting during summer months. Stay here, you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for a/c rooms when making reservations.

Beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings! I would love to go back!
There is so much to do there, conoeing, hiking or just sitting on the lake enjoying the beautiful view of breathtaking Lake Louis. A perfect honeymoon spot. Banff and Jasper are just a short drive away , if you are craving some city life.

We stayed at the Fairmont Lake Louise on August 6, 2013 and splurged on a gold floor lake view room. When we arrived after a long drive south from Jasper and saw the spectacular view from our room, we immediately cancelled our dinner reservation and ordered room service. We had just missed the complimentary snack bar so I cannot comment on that; however, soft drinks were available. A supper table was delivered to our room in good time with full linens and a sumptuous, hot meal which we ate next to one of the windows overlooking the lake. The gold floor lounge and concierge staff were friendly and responded immediately to questions and service requests. There was a bit more of a wait at the main floor concierge because it was serving a larger number of people, but it was just as friendly. The room was comfortable and had AC, fridge, safe, robes, slippers and all the other amenities you would expect in a high-end hotel. There were 3 rooms: an entry room which was the hub for the closet, washroom, bed-sitting room and exit; the washroom which had a separate jetted tub and shower, although the shower was a bit small; and the bed-sitting room which had very comfortable chairs and king bed along with an antique (or reproduction?) TV/fridge/coffee stand flanked by two large, vertical windows overlooking the lake. In the morning, we watched and took many photos of the sunrise on Lake Louise as the fog alternately rose and fell; the mountains faded in and out of view; and the lake changed from blue-green to green-blue until it finally settled as the latter. Breakfast in the gold lounge was the usual hot buffet fare along with smoothies and pastries. After breakfast, we went for a walk along the lakefront where we met some folks from Myrtle Beach and took close-up photos of the lake which was more of a green hue by then. Tour books and other reviews mention throngs of tour buses dropping off tourists for day trips, but we didn't feel crowded out, possibly because it was a Tuesday and we had our walk at around 10am before any afternoon rush. It's worth noting that many lakes in the area have the same turquoise colour water and offer camping. Lake Louise also has the mountains aligned to perfectly frame the view and a fabulous hotel. Would definitely stay there again but would adjust travel schedule to arrive as early as possible and make the most of all there is to enjoy.

Room Tip: You're going to one of the most beautiful places in the world, so splurge and get a lake view ro...

A lake view room here is highly recommended. The view is just as beautiful outside as in, but there's something about waking up and going to sleep with the mountains, lake, and glacier right outside your window. I hope we can welcome you again!
