“Beautiful like a picture-but overpriced!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

The room we stayed in was lovely. We had 2 queen beds with a very large window overlooking the lake. We upgraded to this room from a Mountain view. One thing we didn't like is that almost all the rooms don't have the option of having a king size bed which wasn't good.
Lounge access was nice. Every time we went in there was something new to taste. Breakfast was lovely and the staff very helpful. One HUGE gripe is having to pay for your alcohol when you are already paying hundreds of $$ for the room - come on this should be included like every other hotel with lounge access. Apart from this, hotel was lovely.

Room Tip: The views are worth the extra bucks in my opinion

Thank you for your review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the service on our Fairmont Gold floor, though disappointed we were unable to offer you a room with a king bed. We actually have more rooms with king beds on Fairmont Gold than two queen beds, but I will speak with our Fairmont Gold Manager to ensure we are managing our room assignments well.
I will also take your suggestion to include alcohol from the Fairmont Gold Lounge under consideration and thank you for your suggestion.

We enjoyed 2 nights with our family of 5, including 3 children aged 12 and under. We all shared a smallish room that had a view of the Lake. We were in a newer part of the hotel which was a bit of a walk to the reception, restaurants. The view of the lake was great, however I have had better views from rooms for half the price. There are a few other lakes around the area which I would consider staying near to in the future eg Emerald Lake or Moraine Lake. I was also disappointed to have to pay for valet parking. Service ok (breakfast was v slow), food was fine but for almost $2000 for 2 nights I felt somewhat overcharged for the experience.

We were really looking forward to staying at the Farimont, we were on our honeymoon and our stay was a wedding gift. The lake and surrounding area is beautiful and it is well worth visiting. On arrival I felt the receptionist 'looked down his nose' at me - we were arriving straight after a white water rafting trip and were looking forward to checking in, getting cleaned up and enjoying the area. The hotel is huge and I am sure there are some rooms that are lovely - ours, however, was small and had the WORST view (all we could see was a brick wall and a bit of the roof). We booked a table for dinner with the concierge in the swiss restaurant for that evening. On arrival we were looked up and down (I was wearing a dress and my husband was wearing smart shorts and a shirt) and were told there was a dress code and that my husband would have to change. The meal was good, but was marred by the poor attitude of the staff. The next day we went for breakfast to find only one of the six restaurants served breakfast and that there would be a half hour wait for a table. One final thing to note - there is a $33 charge PER NIGHT for parking! All in all a disappointing stay in what was supposed to be a highlight of our honeymoon.

Thank you very much for your comments, and please accept my sincere apologies for the stay you had. We do offer quite a few different views and room types at different rates, but we do our best to ensure our guests receive the best we have to offer. I have spoken with our Director of Front Office concerning this.
We have a resort casual dress code for all our dining outlets, which generally means most clothing is accepted except ripped/torn clothing or exercise attire. Our Walliser Stube Manager is following up to see why your husband was asked to change and will review the dress code with his team.
Again, I'm very sorry. Please let me know if you will be returning and I would be pleased to assist you with your reservation.

If the view doesn't capture your imagination, then perhaps you need to start thinking about life, the universe and everything.
The hotel is great. It typifies the Fairmont experience of service and comfort and it would be churlish of this reviewer to point out any flaws. Regrettably we only had one night as part of a tour, though one could easily spend several days there, simply gazing out over the lake and reflecting on the joys of nature. If you want a retreat, then Lake Louise will provide it.
Enough said.

Room Tip: Whatever it costs, choose a lakeview room.

The Fairmont Lake Louise is a beautiful property, but the extreme understaffing caused a much less than satisfactory stay for us. Our room was not ready at check-in, even though there were many others successfully checking in who were not President's Club members. We could not secure restaurant reservations for the time we wanted, yet saw that the restaurant had many empty tables when we walked by. In fact, there were many empty tables each night that we dined. The Fairview dining room, which is billed as the "fine dining" restaurant, sorely lacked in a number of areas. The waitstaff, while very friendly, were unkempt in appearance, which is unacceptable in a fine dining establishment. The food was underwhelming, and one of our dinners was overcooked, although we were compensated with free drinks. On the bright side, all of the service people we came in contact with were quite friendly and eager to please. The room was small but lovely, and very clean, although exhaust fumes from the grill were often present on our floor (the 8th). We had a fine meal at the Poppy restaurant, and the deli, while expensive, was a convenient and tasty alternative to the $30 buffet breakfast. All in all we were glad we spent the money on this trip, but probably would not do it again unless Fairmont improves its service.

I greatly appreciate your feedback concerning our staffing levels. I have spoken with my division heads to ensure we are scheduling our colleagues appropriately. We will also review the grooming policy to ensure we are projecting the image of excellence, as well as providing the same service. Please let me know if you are returning to the hotel.

Stayed here on a summer travel trip and will stay here again, if the chance presents. This is as good as any destination and hotel combination gets. You can just visit there but then you would feel stiffed knowing that you didn't spring for the big bucks and spend the night there. Really, one night is enough to get the full picture but if they have a deal to stay 3....it would be worth it. Your going to pay for all this 'stuff' but it is going to be a memory for me and my family that will never go away, like staying in a Holiday, Marriott or etc chain like place will. We had a room with a view but I ain't so sure that it is necessary. You can walk out the door and get the view, so if it is a lot cheaper....why pay the price. There is no place but there to eat but they do have a few medium price options........like having breakfast at the Deli or eating at the Glacier joint. Was good food all around and next time will likely spring for the German joint or the full dining options. Needless to say, the smell of this place is great and the ambience gets it full on.

Room Tip: I ain't sure you can get a bad room but if they give you the lake view, just enjoy it.

What a setting! What a view!
We live in Australia and had dreamed from afar for years of one day seeing this wonderful place. How lovely and how special!
As for the hotel - it was spectacular.
Our room was excellent, the service was remarkable; the restaurants were very very good.
This was a long-held dream come true!
