“One of Canada's place to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

I've been hearing a lot of good reviews about Lake Louise and I listed this place as one of the places i really want to visit and i was not disappointed. The lake is stunning! We stayed in 7th floor and I would say that the staff is very attentive. The service was awesome and we love our room. It was an awesome experience staying in this hotel. I love the hiking trails and canoeing experience. Overall our experience at Fairmont was very good and would love to be back.

Room Tip: Go for Gold rooms.

On arrival we were allocated our Lake View Room. We were excited to see the view from the room and whilst the view was fabulous, the room itself had not been cleaned properly as you could write your name in the dust on the TV cabinet. We promptly went down to reception to complain and give them their due, the reception staff quickly allocated us a similar room on a higher floor which was altogether more acceptable. The view was still spectacular but this room had undergone recent refurbishment and had the all important air conditioning. The room was on the small side but well appointed with a comfy bed, an easy chair and a desk to sit at if required. We also received chocolates delivered to the room on day 2 of our stay as way of apology for the check in issues.

Concierge services were very helpful when choosing a trail for hiking and suggested borrowing walking poles from the bell desk to assist my wife with the incline changes.

The saloon bar was superb for casual dining and we enjoyed great food and beer whilst watching the Stanley Cup Final. So much so that we returned the following evening. Fabulous service and atmosphere at reasonable prices.

In summary a beautiful hotel in a stunning location, it can get very busy and some of the restaurants are a little on the expensive side but we are glad we have experienced it as the view is something really special !!

The view is something we are lucky enough to enjoy, but excellent service is what we strive to provide; I'm so pleased we delivered. I will be following up with our Executive Housekeeper to ensure no room is in the state your first room was upon check-in. I thank you for your candid feedback so we can improve.

The Fairmont sits on Lake Louise at the base of Victoria Glacier. There are several excellent hiking trails that start at the hotel and go around the lake and up toward the glacier, and other small lakes--Mirror and Agnes lakes. The location cannot be beat. Eating in the hotel restaurants you have a beautiful view of the lake and glacier. There is no reason to leave the property--all encompassing. The only drawback is the price. The room and food choices are expensive, but overall, it is worth it. They need to update the gym facilities too, but we were glad to have them at all, along with a nice indoor pool and large jacuzzi. It was a real treat to stay here, thanks!

We were really looking forward to trip and the view, hotel, staff and room all were above and beyond my expectations. From check in to check out nothing was to much for the staff to do. One of the days we stayed was a bit over cast and rainy which meant alot of the tour groups on coaches came into the hotel for shelter and food so bars an drestaurants were busy but we didnt have to wait to long to order andget food etc. Reallly would reccommend this hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: There were 5 in our group and we were planning to get a twin room but left it to the last minute and...

The hotel certainly seems a bit busier when it rains, but I'm so glad it did not greatly impact your experience. Thank you very much for your kind words, and I hope we have the chance to welcome you again soon!

This place is always hard to rate. Third stay in 7 years, some consistencies: location, location, location. But yes, very expensive. Paid for a lakeview room for three nights and the view: it is breathtaking. Still no casual sort of restaurant ... ie a place to get a reasonably priced burger and fries for the kids on a weekday afternoon. Stayed on "Gold floor" for second time. You get an air conditioned room, and a guarantee your lakeview room is in the main building. (Yes, they consider some rooms in the new building that look across the street and trees lakeview but don't let talk you into it!!) Gold service is not at all what it was 7 years ago. No more omelettes, no more showing you to your room, no more being pro-active to see if you need dinner reservations. Breakfast on Gold floor is similar to a Hampton Inn. We thought we would treat ourselve to valet service this time, but could not get anyone to help us, so just self parked and saved money. Make sure you bring your AAA card , they do ask to see it!!

"Wait" service in the "saloon" restaurant was very uneven ... Long waits for checks, and soda refills non-existent. So .... would I stay again? Yeah for one night, but not three.

Location, location, location. Just keep your service expectations in check ...

Room Tip: Pay for a lakeview room in main building only. Higher floors are better. Ask for "straight on...

This hotel was booked for us as part of the Rocky Mountaineer Silverleaf and what a jewel it was!
The room was rather small, the bathroom very small but the bed the most comfortable ever!
We arrived after a few days of bad weather where the lake had been completely shrouded by mist.Fortunately, the weather cleared for us and the view from our window was spectacular!
Our two night stay gave us the opportunity to leisurely walk the lake edge and the photography of that lake/mountain setting, and the hotel itself, was true picture-postcard stuff.
We found the staff very helpful eg when we had to join the Fairmont Club (no charge) before we could access WiFi and they seemed always pleased to chat and provide information and advice.
Shopping and restaurants are all on site as the nearest "community" is a considerable walk away...downhill and not to be recommended. Understandably, perhaps, both food and shops are expensive.
Some renovations were being undertaken at the time of our visit so the lounge with its fabulous view was restricted.
For travellers who want a one-off highlight hotel on their holiday, this may be it. Just be sure to pick fine weather!

It sounds as though you had a great experience. I'm so pleased and will share your comments with my team.
You're absolutely right that the village of Lake Louise is a bit of a hike - 4 km downhill, which isn't too bad. It's the walk back up that's tough! We do out best to offer our guests everything they could possibly need within the hotel.
I hope you get the chance to visit again and see the magnificent renovations now that they're completed!

First of all, the room was wonderful. We took the junior suite and it's lovely - big balcony, amazing view, comfortable bed and the bathroom was wonderful too. The stuff service was very good. The location - omg, I can't put it in to words, you just have to see yourself.
