“Pleasant, refined, vintage, step back in time experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

A great energy is radiating from the place. People are particularly happy to be there. It's a treat they waited long for. Service is outstanding. Room look is great. Loved to be there and talk with people at the pool.
The downside were the incredible heat in the room. Thermostat was set at off and window open all night with -21C exterior weather and had hard time to fall asleep. The pool – hot tub area would benefit greatly of some renos. New wood and new tile would be required to upgrade the look that deserve this place. I still recommend people to go there en enjoy the Chateau experience. Surrounding décor is magical.

Spent 3 days /2 nights at the Chateau during spring break. Glorious cannot describe the views of the frozen lake and snow covered mountains. The Hotel is a special place, a throwback to the more refined days of travel. Joined the Fairmont Presidents Club and stayed on the Gold Floor. Well worth the extra expense. The Gold lounge was open till 10 pm and offered snacks, breakfast, afternoon hor d'oeuvres, coffees, teas, etc. Worked out well for our family because everyone could wander in when they felt like it, great for those on different schedules.
Our sons did the cross country ski excursion with the guide, who did an excellent job with them.
Highly recommend this hotel, would love to return during the summer to enjoy it then as well.

Room Tip: Gold Floor worth the extra expense.

I fell in love with the Chateau Lake Louise upon arrival! The resort itself is so charming and welcoming. Nestled into the mountains, there are views from every window (of the lake or of the mountains). When we arrived from a day of snowboarding (they had made special arrangements to take our bags to the hotel in the morning for us) we were immediately upgraded to the Gold Floor. This included complimentary breakfast and complimentary happy hour hors d'oeuvres, among many other perks! Although there were some complications with our booking, they more than made up for it! Because of the complications - a small mistake on their end - they compensated by upgrading us to the Belvedere Suite! It was our LUCKY DAY - this room was stunning. 2 floors, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies. We were in love! It was a special trip for my husband and I, so we appreciated the incredible customer service.
The room was clean and comfortable, equipped with amazing bath products (Rose 31, I think?) and a blow dryer. The best parts of this room was the sitting room/dining room (where we ordered an intimate dinner through room-service - such a nice evening!) and the views were spectacular.
During our stay, we also took a horse sleigh ride around the lake at dusk (organized through the concierge), walked across the lake during the day (beautiful!), used the hot tub and pool (this was just OK - very busy), had a drink at their lovely bar, walked around the grounds, had a massage & facial at the spa on-site and visited the cafe. We LOVED everything about this hotel/resort and will definitely return!

Room Tip: If you sign up for the Fairmont Presidents Club, you will get free wifi. I believe that we were upg...

Our family stayed at the Chateau Lake Louise while on a two day ski trip. It was our first stay and we will definitely be back. It is filled with old world charm yet has all the modern amenities needed. One of our son's has a severe nut allergy and with the attention to detail the Fairmont properties are known for, they exceeded our expectations in handling the allergy. When what our son chose for dinner wasn't 100% guaranteed to be nut free (due to cross contamination possibilities from outside food vendor sources), they went ahead and made his entire order from scratch without hesitation. The same went for our breakfast the next day. Absolutely outstanding service! The kids loved exploring the hotel, our view from our room onto the lake was stunning and Marcus the house dog is a sweetheart. Our only negative was our room was HOT. The heat was off and the room was 27 degrees celsius which made sleeping a tad bit difficult. Had we been staying another night we would have talked to the front desk about it and I have no doubt it would have been handled promptly. All in all, this is a fabulous property that is perfect for couples or families, and has a fantastic history to go with it.

Room Tip: The view of the lake is stunning.

I recently had the pleasure of attending this hotel for a conference. The hotel is much larger than I expected, and the lands surrounding it are breathtaking. The hotel is exactly what I would expect in a mountain retreat: lodgey feel with high-end finishes; dark wood accents and granite and marble in the bathroom. The Chateau has been upgraded/dated within the last few years, but is not contemporary/modern in feel, although rustic is not the right word to describe the old-world opulence this hotel has. Every staff member I encountered, both from the hotel perspective and the conference, were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the hotel and area. The concierge was excellent and even the guys running the shuttles to/from Ski Lake Louise were amazing and entertaining. The room I had was on the first floor, and was facing inward; I would highly recommend upgrading to a lake view room if possible. The food at the restaurants is excellent, but priced according to the chateau’s standards; the beef in Alberta is wonderful! Dogs are welcomed at the chateau and there were a number of larger dogs on the premises while I was there; I did not hear any dogs during my stay but had the pleasure of seeing them in the lobby and on the grounds---this was not an issue for me a dog owner but maybe for those who are not dog lovers---of course they were on leash and controlled at all times. There are lot of trails for hiking and walking; the views are absolutely breathtaking. The location of the chateau is out of the way and is about 30 minutes from Banff; I would recommend renting a car for your trip or you may feel isolated if relying shuttle bus services for transportation; although the shuttle service for skiing is the best way to get to/from the ski hill and very convenient. Unsure of my time at my conference I chose to rent skis rather than bring my own; the Chateau has a mountain sports service as well and they rent almost everything you need for winter sports: hiking boots, snow shoes, skates, and skis packages---including those for the very young; the people at the sports rental centre were great and very knowledgeable--thank you! I had an excellent time at the chateau and am already trying to figure out when I can get back next year with my family, thank you Fairmont!

The location of this hotel is spectacular. To be able to walk out and go for a world class hike to the plain of the 7 glaciers and be back in the lounge for supper was great! Views out of lounge and off patio beautiful. We stayed in a family suite and it was wonderful with 2 big bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Got 3 rd night free so actually pretty good value. Server very friendly to us in lounge despite fact we had 3 little kids with us. Felt very comfortable here. Good pool for kids. Check in very smooth and quick. Checkout was a bit slow, but overall a really fun and special stay for our family.

Room Tip: Family suites very big and nice

My family and I stay here 3 or 4 times a year. That in itself is an excellent recommendation. We are always treated well. The staff is outstanding. This year we had my brother and sister in law from Ontario come with us between Christmas and New Year. They were amazed by the views and activities. We skiied, skated, tobogganed and took a sleigh ride to the end of the lake and back. Living in Calgary it is easy to take this world class site for granted sometimes. Seeing it through the eyes of a new visitor made me really apprecite how beautiful this spot is.

Although I have read some of the reviews saying the rooms are rather small, one must remember when this hotel was built. Also having travelled a fair bit in Europe, also helps with prespective in room size. Besides, there is so much to do and see, one does not spend much time in the room.

This is truly a beautiful place. If you have a chance to visit Lake Louise, the Chateau is a must visit even if you cannot stay for the full experience.

Room Tip: Lakeview rooms are spectacular. Join the President's club for free internet. Can do when you che...
