Arrived here weary for a two night stay in the main lodge, but what a warm welcome. Registered in the lobby which had a lovely log fire on the go and were then taken on a guided tour of the main lodge which is fabulous, really quirky, I won't detail as it would spoil your first impressions. We were guided to our room, our luggage carried there for us. We stayed in room 29 which overlooked the lake- magical. The room was a good size and had lovely balcony to sit on and simply gaze at the view in awe.The storage in the room was definitely different and we loved the fire in the corner. The bathroom was a good size with 3/4 bath and a shower.
The huge bonus was the excellent breakfast served in the dining room and included in the price. They offer breakfast to walk ins at 20 dollars.
There is a cafe with pleasant outdoor seating as well open during the day. You can also purchase a variety of foods to take on a picnic, but these are not cheap; 10.45 for a baton sandwich (big enough to share).
There is also a well stocked shop selling a wide range of items.
A highlight of the stay for us was attending the talk in the evening, these are held 3 times per week. Joel was an excellent and entertaining speaker.
The lounge has a fabulous log fire and tea, coffee and biscuits are avaulable in the afternoon.
We ate both evenings in the superb restaurant and this was the best food we had whilst in Canada. The serving staff are extremely knowledgeable and engaging. They can give advice on foods, wines and tips for your excursions.
Sadly we could not take advantage of the kayaks due to the inclement weather.
The only negative comment has to be the housekeeping which was not as excellent as everything else, old dust on surfaces and in particular in the bathroom on the detailed tiles spoilt an otherwise perfect room.
