“Good lounge, pool sucks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Only one night. Food in Explorers Lounge was excellent - pub food with interesting twists, very well prepared and presented. Really nice place for a reasonably priced meal, in an expensive town. Rooms (we had 2 in the main building) were clean, quiet, and comfortable.

Only real down side was the pool. We have kids, and when a place has a pool it's a big deal. The pool was freezing (not just cool - I would not swim laps in a real pool at this temperature). One hot tub was dead, as was the steam room. The maintenance guy seemed more interested in kicking people out of the one functioning hot tub (max. 5 people....) than listening to concerns. If you can't keep the infrastructure running, better to remove it.

Overall - better than over-paying for the fancy places, and a good sleep night.

We had a tiny room, with 2 beds and hardly room enough to put our suitcases down. NO fridge either. For the price we paid, this was unacceptable. This place is deteriorated over the years, but we were told updates WERE in the planning.
Staff was very nice and the buffet lovely, although not included in our price.

Stayed at hotel for one night. Dirty! blanket on bed was dirty, hair in sheets, room smelt bad. Walls are paper thin. The only thing that keeps this hotel running is the location. Rather drive the extra hour and stay in Canmore.

We had booked a superior room but when we got to the hotel they gave us an upgrade in a mini suite with kitchen and separate bedroom with a murphy bed in the living room We even had a gas fireplace. We we're 4 so it was much appreciated. The room was clean and the personnel are very accommodating. We we're able to buy food for our breakfast and eat in the room. After a week it was very nice not to have to go out for breakfast. It is quiet because your are in a part of town where there is no traffic. It's well situated to visit the Columbia ice fields and the beautiful lakes.

Reserved a room for family of 5. Got a 2 floor suite with more beds to accomodate everybody they were large and comfortable. Room had a full kitchen including dishwasher. After 2 weeks on the road the kids where happy to have a home meal. Only problem is that if room is built to eat in, a sitting area for a family is in need.
Hotel has a large pool with 2 hot tubs overlooking the mountains, a pleasant place to sit after a long traveling day.
Hotel offers a few restaurants including a Starbucks.
Location is right inside the village near main road. If you suffer from noise while sleeping, this is not a place for you since we heard the trains running all night.

Dear Idanm,
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay with us. The suite that you were in, is very popular and great for families looking for a little more room. Your comments about needing more of a dining area, has been passed onto our Executive Housekeeper. We are also pleased that you were able to make use of our wonderful facilities. We are sorry however, that the trains did keep you awake, unfortunately, they can be heard from all over the park, which can be quite bothersome. We do hope this does not sully your experience and you can one day return to Lake Louise.
Your Sincerely,
The Management

My family and I stayed at this hotel because this was the room available in the lake Louise area. I have to say that when we first walked into the economy room we were astonished at the extent of filthiness to the room. Specifically, there were stains on the floor, the room was size of the shoe box and really would be a squeeze for a two person accommodation. I thought to myself this reminds me of the room from one of those horror movies set in a motel in which the main character is being hunted by the evil "Jason-like" villain. We immediately contacted front desk who upgraded us to a 1-bedroom suite without argument (.... Interesting... Has this possibly happened before ;-). While the one bedroom suite was a little more spacious (adequate for 3 ppl) the furniture was clearly old and stains noticeable on the carpet. Additionally there was a smell of a dead rat in the room. At this point the time was midnight and my family and I had been traveling for close to 8hrs so we made a pact to sleep and then to escape from the horror set in the early morning. Do yourself a favor and be sure to research alternative accommodations if you plan to stay in the wonderful lake Louise area.

Room Tip: Look for accommodations elsewhere

Dear Sicamous35,
Thank you for your feedback on Trip advisor regarding your stay with us and we apologise that your experience did not meet your expectations. We would also like to take this opportunity to inform you that the hotel will be undertaking renovation projects from mid-September onwards and it includes the room type in which you have recently stayed in. We will be giving the room’s new carpet through to new bed and linen. While this will not change the poor experience you had, we hope that you will give us opportunity to redeem ourselves once our renovations have been done and show you the true hospitality that we pride ourselves on.
Your Sincerely
The Management

Our room was pretty basic and not cheap but when comparing all the hotels in lake Louise it was the best for the money.. Very close to the main road, about 5 mins from the gondola and a 5 min drive to the lake! I would stay here again.. The rooms were very clean, a little small but the hotel had good restaurants and very helpful staff. Major note I found the rooms very hot with no air conditioning

Dear Justine,
Thank you for your feedback about your recent stay with us. Our staff are always here to help our guests and its great that they were able to meet your expectations. In in the interest of being eco friendly, our hotel does not have air conditioning but rather air cooling in some rooms and we have fans available on request. We do hope that this turn you away from the beautiful area and that we can host you again in the future.

Your sincerely,
The Management
