recenlty i had the opportunity to stay the night at lake louise inn. That night there was a lighting storm which took out all the lights in the town of lake louise. We were told by the staff that it might take a few mins or hours depending on the repairs. We went to our room, but discovered that the hotel did not have a generator to accomidate this power outage. Thank god i didnt require power for oxygen. We went to the chateau to have dinner as they had a generator for there hotel. The power was restored at 2 30 am. Upon check out, i asked the shift manager if there was any compinsation for the events of the night, and she said no... after paying 200.00 for the night, i was sadly dissapointed. I sent a email off to the manager of the hotel, who was more than abnoxious and rude. He felt there was no problems, as well as it was not his problem. He is the worse manager i have ever spoken with, when it comes to problems. Most managers would be so happy to make sure you are happy with your stay, but Gerry Barteluk was more than rude to me. I recommend anyone wanting to stay in this hotel be careful, when there is no problems i am sure the hotel is the same as the hostel down the road, but when there is a problem they dont care about you, as long as you have given them the money that is owed to them...

We were only booked in for one night and based on previous reviews hadn't been expecting any great shakes. However, we were pleasantly suprised and enjoyed our stay. The front desk staff were polite, friendly and helpful and the room we were given was on the ground floor of of two storey block 2 with parking immediately outside the door. The room looked to have been recently refurbished and was nicely furnished with a plasma screen tv. There was a balcony and large french windows opening onto this overlooking a covered barbeque area. The pool/ spa area was very nice although, oddly, it was overlooked by some of the guest rooms on one side.

The hotel is conveniently located for the village centre and I would guess you could get by without your own transport if needs be.

I would have given it an above average rating but for the restaurant - Legends I think it was called. The food was good enough (when it arrived) and the staff were friendly and helpful but they were short of choices and seemed to be out of various items on the menu. Plus they stick on a 15% service charge then leave a space for a gratuity as well (which always annoys me). I think they had some staff/ training issues that night.

However, I'm sure that our negative experience in the restaurant was a one off judging by some of the other comments, so I would have no problems recommending this hotel as a stop off in Lake Louise.

we spent 3 nights in this hotel at the start of a 3 week tour of canada. The hotel accomodation was spacious and clean, and had great views from the windows. Our room however looked out directly over the indoor pool, which did not matter to us, for it meant our daughter could swim whlie I was packing / unpacking and I could see her, but if you want an outside view - i recomend you request this when booking. The hotel was perfectly placed for visiting the local area, and a great base for travelling around. There was plenty of wildlife in the grounds to the great amusment of the family!
The only negative was the food. Places to eat are restricted in the area, so we ate in the hotel twice, and both times the meals were dissapointing. We only complained once, and the staff were very pleasant and gave us our meal on the house, and offered us another one the next day( we declined!). so the excellent service and attatude of the staff made up for the poor meal. I would stay there again.

“OK hotel”

Lake Louise Inn

Aug 3, 2008

We chose Lake Louise Inn at the last minute as were driving by in a rain storm. We had planned on camping that night but the rain made sleeping in a tent a gloomy prospect. The Inn was almost full but we obtained a room for $199+ tax. The room was on the ground floor of building 4. This is an older building in need of some rennovation, the room was OK but small. The worst thing about our stay was that our room was located directly above the hotel's laundry facility, the industrial washing machines created a disturbing rumble that thankfully had ceased by bedtime.

For the Lake Louise area, this hotel is probably considered "budget" accomodations. The hotel is conviently located in the town center. The lobby is nice and the place seems popular with familiies.

“Older hotel considered "budget" in Lake Louise”

Lake Louise Inn

Aug 1, 2008

This hotel is in the town of Lake Louise. It is still a drive of a few miles to the actual Lake Louise. You can not see the lake from town. I paid $173 for one night.

Our room in building 4 faced Highway 1A; a four lane freeway. We were on the 3rd floor. The building does not have any elevators. So you must haul your bags up the steps, or call the front desk and wait for someone to haul them up for you.

The building was old. The hallways are on the outside. It would be cold to walk to your room on the narrow hallways in the winter.

Our room was small. There was no air conditioning or fan. There was a small window to open. The walls were thin. We could hear people talking in the room next to ours. Since there was no fan or AC, we could not drown out the noise.

The room did not have a refrigerator, microwave, or WiFi. In order to get ice, you had to go down to the basement of the building (4 stair levels). We found the basement very creepy. It looked as though this building was the headquarters for staff. There were old games and a broken jukebox.

The front desk staff were completely clueless upon check-in. It appeared as though it was one woman's first day on the computer. It took 20 minutes to check in. Other staff seemed very stressed and hurried. It seemed obvious they did not enjoy working there. We left a nice tip in our room for the maid, since she was the only staff member who smiled at us.

The Lake Louise Lodge lists an "Exercise Room". Although the capacity of the hotel is hundreds of people, the exercise room only has two cardio machines and some free weights. The dingy carpet had a huge hole in it; the room was disgusting. This hotel should not be permitted to advertise a "Fitness Room" with this unmaintained and inadequate equipment/space.

The highlight of our stay was a free lecture by "Great Divide Nature Interpretation". This was a very interesting and educational program held in the evening within the gazebo. The front desk did not tell us about the wonderful program. We just saw a sign in the lobby and decided to check it out. I highly recommend attending this program, even if you are staying in another hotel.

We ate dinner at 5 PM at the Timberwolf Pizza & Pasta Café (the upstairs restaurant). Service was extremely slow; the wait staff had too much to handle. The calzones weren't worth the wait. When we exited the restaurant, we saw a line of people stretching to at least 40 people in line for the two restaurants. My advice is to eat early, or plan to wait (and don't bother with the bready calzones).

The hotel does have a "Tea Cottage" which looked very nice, but the afternoon tea was around $34 per person (beyond our budget).

Perhaps some of the other buildings and rooms are nicer than the one we stayed in......but I won't be back to evaluate!
