“Standard family Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The hotel is great if you are looking for a budget family hotel. The rooms were clean, and staff was very helpful and friendly.
This is an older hotel and could use some updates but overall it was what I was looking for when I travelled with my family for a ski vacation.
My only complaint was day one our room was not cleaned. It was over spring break and they were very busy I think. On the second day our hotel room key did not work. It was reset at the front desk and still did not work. The hotel manager came to the room and the lock was jammed. He was able to open the door. He was very kind and helpful and aside from these small things, everything else was wonderful.

Room Tip: If you are travelling with kids I would suggest the loft suite. It has bunk beds, a loft room and a...

Dear Lawreen B,
We appreciate your feedback on Tripadvisor and we’re really happy that you enjoyed your ski vacation and our team. We apologize that your room was cleaned one day during your stay and the challenge with your room key. We are actually in the process of changing our key cards to avoid this situation in the future. We are excited to let you know that our renovations are starting soon and we will be updating some areas. All new pillows are in the guest rooms, blankets are arriving within a week and we’re just waiting on confirmation for the new beds! We will be updating our Facebook page with the newest pieces to arrive so please keep checking.

Kind regards,
Kelly Anne Yeaman

We have stayed at the Lake Louise Inn many times, including our wedding night 15 years ago. In recent years the deferred maintenance has really started to catch up with them. Of the last 4 times we stayed there, the toilet was plugged upon our arrival twice, the heat didn't work once, and the room was OK once. A few visits ago we asked for extra blankets, and they actually had holes in them. On our most recent visit we stayed in a "renovated" room, and indeed there were some components of the room that were relatively new, but many tired, dirty, parts remained.

So, why do we keep coming back? Because Lake Louise is home of some of the best skiing, climbing, hiking, and scenery in all of Banff National Park. If you want to stay in the heart of it, the options are limited and expensive, especially for families who are looking for some extra space, and a kitchen in the room. The lack of alternatives are what keep these guys in business. If you are indifferent to staying in Banff or Lake Louise, you will find much better value in Banff.

That said, I think we have hit our limit, and will be either digging deeper in our wallet, or driving farther the next time we visit Lake Louise. I actually think the two bedroom executive suites are ok, but too many bad memories of other rooms make it difficult to return.

Dear BDB424,
Renovations are coming! The design package is being decided upon right now. The main focus will be on our suites and we’ll be updating the décor as well as getting new beds and bedding, new TV’s and more. Please keep checking our Facebook page for updates.
Our Maintenance and Housekeeping teams continue to work very hard to bring the guest rooms to the standard you have come to expect in the Park and I think you will be pleased.
We are looking forward to showing off our renovated Inn on your next visit.
Kind regards,
Kelly Anne Yeaman

We stayed at this Inn by purchasing an online deal, otherwise it's very pricey. The hotel is in desperate need of a good facelift. Rooms are dated. Bathroom was dusty in the corners and behind the sink. By the kitchen table were candies from the previous guests, as well as a goldfish cracker on the kitchen floor. How could the cleaning staff miss this??!!
The pool is small and the hot tubs are very small. For a resort of that size, they should have ample hot tubs available. One hot tub had a maximum of 5 guests, we actually got out after 10 mins to give other guests a "turn"...ridiculous.
The hotel was convenient for a quick 7 min drive to the ski hill.

Room Tip: Get top floor room, or else hear your upstairs neighbour flushing their toilet

We stayed as a family of 4 in the 2 bed executive suite. The room is fantastic - no complaints at all. The whirlpool bath was a godsend! We were on the 2nd floor and there is an elevator. We used the washing machine and dryer, which was really handy and cheap to use! The beds were made daily and they even cleaned the kitchen and emptied the dishwasher for us. I would recommend this room, very quiet, didn't hear a noise in the evening. We came for the skiing but as late in the season was getting slushy at the bottom at the lake Louise ski area - this meant we would drive to sunshine mountain in Banff for the much better snow!

Only complaint was the room wasn't ready when we arrived, we were early! The room should have been ready at 4pm but we were not able to get on till 4.20pm. The receptionist was extremely snappy and sullen - not impressed with her. Not at all welcoming compared to everyone else we have come across in Canada - so friendly!

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our Executive 2 Bed room suite and found our Laundromats handy and useful. It also makes us happy to learn that our cleaning services were according to your expectations and the rooms were quiet. We have passed on your feedback to our guest services manager and the housekeeper to address the issue brought up in your review.
We thank you for staying with us and look forward for your future visit.

We recently stayed here on a combination of groupons and living social vouchers. Even with those "good deals" it's getting harder and harder to stay here. The beds were awful (should have been replaced years ago), kids said the pool was too cold to be enjoyable, hot tub too small to accommodate the volume of guests and overall the property is just getting tired and run down.
We love staying here due to the proximity to lake Louise ski resort and the configuration of the bighorn family and family loft suites are great for our family. But Please do some upgrades!!!! This property is not worth the "rack rate" by any stretch of the imagination -- even the groupon price is high considering how run down things are. Let us know when you get new mattresses and we'll consider staying again!

For lake Louise ski hill lovers you can't beat the location. Everything was clean and well kept. Pet friendly which was appreciated. Hot tubs were not hot enough and pool was a bit cool. Tvs were dated and no good option for watching movues. Great family size lofts. Cupboards well stocked with dishes but bring your own frying pan. We went on a half price groupon and it was well worth that money.

Dear mrfremo,
We thank you for your feedback on Tripadvisor. We are happy to know that you found our rooms according to your expectations. The lofts are perfect for families and we’re happy to share the news that the hotel will be undergoing renovations this year and we will be providing updates on our Facebook page. Our maintenance team keeps the pool at 80 degrees however we did have a challenge with the heater in one of our hot tubs and that is being fixed. We thank you for staying with us and we look forward to welcoming you back.

living social deal at $109.00 we would rather have stayed at home.
Lobby is tired for a hotel, the whole place seemed more like a motel. Reception staff were ok though not overly happy to work there. Everything was closed and dark upon arrival. Could tell it needed a bit of an update but thought it could be an ok place to stay if skiing, depending on the rooms and restaurant, so we thought.

Entered the room, very musty smelling, was very put off. Decor ok could tell they had done the bathroom but didnt want to stay in there long as it smelt like urine. Pillows uncomfortable, 1105 view of carpark. 5:00am hits and a loud noisey heater kicks in, kept me awake for a good hour.

partner was looking forward to the steam room, however turned around on entry as it was overpacked.

Decided to try the pizza restaurant and decided the pizza chef was the best thing in the place. Very good pizza, great cocktails. Front of house understaffed though one server was very friendly.

Not someone for couples to go to stay, It would be ok for families when skiing, but more of a motel then hotel. I would much rather pay more and stay in banff at the rimrock.
