“Good location to ski, not to sleep”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2011

Stayed at the hotel for 1 night and enjoyed the location. Easy to walk around and to get access to Lake Louise and the ski resort of the same name. Having said that, found the walls/floors to be very thin so we did not sleep well (lots of foot traffic in the hallways and conversations were as if they were in our room.
Front desk staff were good, very friendly and helpful. The data system for checking you in and out was crashing routinely when we checked in and out. The staff worked around it but once is a problem, twice is a management issue.

Room Tip: Get a room on the main building where you check in. It has the restaurant, pool, etc. Watch out fo...

We booked a family suite at this hotel, which was well worthwhile. The bedroom was rather small for a couple with an older child, but the pull-down bed in the living room suited our teenager well. The kitchen facilities enabled us to self cater and the suite had a small, secluded patio at the back, frequented by ground squirrels.
The hotel is modern and well appointed. We found staff friendly and helpful. We particularly appreciated the programme of talks on wildlife in the area, which the hotel had arranged. The location is within easy walking distance of Lake Louise village, but is quiet. We found it to be a good base for a couple of nights.

We stayed one night as part of a trip to Canada. The receptionist asked if we wanted help with our luggage and we said we were ok. What she didn't mention was all the steps and the snow we had to walk through as we were in a separate building. We are the wrong side of 60 years. We will have a porter when we leave.
The Exploreers Lounge sounded a better choice than pasta. What a disappointment. There was no atmosphere, our waitress did not mention there was a special but did to a later patron. I ordered the signature slaw . I asked what was in it and the name was repeated to me. I persisted and said I am not from Canada and would like to identify the ingredients. It took 2 people to come back and sort of tell me what the main ingredient was. Found this amazing in the signature dish. When we left, we not acknowledged and the restaurant was not busy. I did not feel welcome and would not return as most otheer Candian hotels have been friendly.

What a terrible experience!
From the moment we got to our room our hotel experience went downhill. First we walk into the room, and it smells like a smoking room. As non smokers (myself an ex-smoker) we really could not stand to be in this room. We called down to the front desk, this person said they would see about a room move and call us back. 20 minutes later, no phone call, so we call again. It is now 7:05 pm, we really just want to unpack, get supper started and just relax. 25 minutes later there is a knock at the door. Finally! We get our keys to move rooms. We would have gone to get the keys ourselves had we known it would take that long!
Secondly, we paid for an upgrade to a suite with a kitchenette, we called in advance to make sure we didn't need to bring anything like pots and pans. The Person at the front desk assured us that we would have everything we needed in the room. As we are waiting on the keys we look in the cupboards and see there is only a frying pan and colander. Not what we expected, luckily our second room had everything, which means if you ask for a kitchenette suite you may be disappointed depending on which room you end up in. (personally you'll be disappointed anyway)
The room was very dated. Not as nice as what the pictures show. The bathroom was not clean. The floor had dirty spots, the tub had severe soap scum around the side, the shower curtain looked unclean. The beds were uncomfortable, their customer service was terrible, their staff is uniformed about activities in the area, service in their restaurant was awful and food was not great.
When we brought up the issues we had at check out all they said was "sorry". As someone who works in the business, an unsympathetic sorry doesn't cut it. Had there been even a little empathy shown, I may have been appeased.
So I'm sorry too, as I will never recommend this hotel anyone.

As we could not find a good B & B in the Lake Louise area we stayed two night at this hotel. It was not good and also not bad. We found it rather commercial, as we had to pay for WIFI. Nowhere in Canada had we to pay for this!
Our room looked out to the swimming pool and had no outside window, which was unpleasant.
The personnel was friendly, but also a bit commercial.
So, all in all, we found the hotel not one to really recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with outside windows

The best thing about Lake Louise Inn is its location. It is right by Lake Louise, so you can spend your evening with a nice canoe ride across the lake, rather than driving all the way back down to Banff to stay at a more value priced hotel.
One downside of staying at Lake Louise Inn - you will hear the trains all night long. I assume this is true of any hotel in Lake Louise village - the tracks are main corridors and the trains run all night long - and they are LONG trains.
We were in building 4 of Lake Louise Inn. We were on the top floor. There is no elevator, so you have to carry all your bags up 3 flights of stairs to reach your small room with thin walls. We are young enough and fit enough to carry our stuff, but if you bring a lot of heavy luggage, I suggest you stay elsewhere. Even the first floor rooms of Bldg 4 are up one flight of stairs. The ice machine is in the basement (it looked like there was a laundromat down there too).
No free breakfast. No fridge in the room. The drinking glasses in the room are plastic cups. There are two bottles of water - available for $2 each!
The establishment itself is a disappointment, but you can't beat the location. We hiked OHara Lakes in nearby Yoho, and staying at Lake Louise Inn allowed us to get a really early start (we didn't have reservations for the shuttle bus so had to walk the 11km up to OHara Lakes - which is well worth doing!)

Had intended to stay in Banff following a drive from Calgary en route to Icefields parkway but due to a slip up in zone selection on a well known bidding site we ended up staying here! Was slightly irritated with myself given the lukewarm reviews at best that this place seems to get on TA but was slightly heartened to see the better ratings on hotels booking sites. We arrived quite late on, easy to find, just a minute off highway 1 into Lake Louise village. You check in at a central building then get given keys to your room in one of 5 blocks. One block is very basic accomm, a couple of normal ones and a few plusher ones. I had assumed as we had come through a bidding site that we'd get the worst room of the lot but pleasantly ended up in one of the "normal" blocks which was nice! Doors opened outwards onto the corridor which was a bit strage and awkward with cases but rooms inside were very pleasant if a little dated in the furnishing. Nice balcony for standing out on while you could stnad the temperature! All the facilities are in the central building where there is a little gift shop, two restaurants (one pizza and one brasserie style which was closed while were there. The pool area was alsdo just off reception it was quite a nice space but the two nights we were there there was a strange smell hanging around like there had been some unfortunate incident that had just been cleared up, maybe tmeporary though i hope! We got a takeaway pizza one night from the upstairs italian to take back to the room which was very nice and fairly decent price for the area. We also ate one night in the basement bar which serves food too which seemed to attract some locals too which we assumed was a good sign. Staff very friendly, handy location, decent price for the area and much better than the reviews led me to believe. When you're in LL chances are you're just passing through so the actual hotel isn't a huge deal, it's the outside that you come for! My only key criticism would be that the lighting around the complex was very poor and meant you could barely pick your way back to your room if like us you were in the blocks further away from reception. if they can get this upgraded then it's a nice little place!
