The color, the mountains, the Hotel. Amazing! Too far away too beautiful! Try to relax after the glacier and you will feel blessed.

“The prettiest lake in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2015 NEW

What can you say about this place except that it is incredibly beautiful! I had heard of its beauty from my grandmother, who said it was the pretties place she had ever seen! After traveling there this year, I would have to say that I agree.

The water is the most beautiful blue you have ever seen. The strange and beautiful turquoise color comes from the the glaciers at the head of the valley. Apparently, as the glacial ice grinds on the bedrock, it creates a type of rock silt. This silt is suspended in the water, which gives the lake a unique color, making it almost look thick.

This is one of The most beautiful places in The area. The mix between an imponent glaciar, an ever green forest, wild animals and clear waters is just magical.

“Always a great place to do some hiking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2015

Lake Louise is a great destination any time of year. During the summer months you can go out on the lake in a rented canoe, or hike along its western border and beyond, all the way to the source of the lake high in the mountain if you're up for it.

There is also a very popular hike that rises up the mountain immediately to the west of the lake. It's a great hike for those in reasonable health - you gain a lot of altitude and the view at the top is excellent, but it's slope is gentle enough for most. There is also a tea hut near the top where you can get great food and drinks.

In the winter months be sure to check out the ice sculpture competition!

“Always lovely to look at”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2015

Stop in at Louise if you are in the Banff area or driving the parkway. It's just a few minutes off the main road and it offers a great view, a nice walk, and/or a visit to a stately historic old CP hotel. If you go into the hotel (and you should), you can have a snack or a meal overlooking the lake. Check out the lobby too - many interesting things to see there, including the chandelier. If you are visiting in the winter, you can go for a sleigh ride or skate on the rink that is cleared on the lake. Parking is plentiful and free and the parking lot is just a short walk from the lake and the hotel. There are interesting birds there that want to eat from your hand, and will wait on your car roof for you to feed them!
